Well done . Big finish to your first year of premier cricket. Starting as a medium pacer lower order batter finished your first year as a keeper and top 6 bat. This 65 today is testament to your hard work and resolve. Thanks to for your work with him and guidance.

Very proud dad today.

This young man just has something about him. He tells me he was nervous but didn’t show it.

Even though he isnt a front line bowler in this team he was entrusted to bowl overs 38 and 40 - getting a wicket forcing a desperate run for a run out and executing a run out of their main bat himself. Like his brother 5 years ago involved in the winning play for a premiership

Hopefully he continues his love for this game and like his brother before him forms some great friendships

Well done to Sonny Baker and a chance for me to reflect

If anyone deserves it it is him. The true cricket nuffy …

Last Wednesday night we had a live video session to discuss a few things. I had sent him a review and a few things I wasn’t happy with. Feedback taken.

When we chatted he had his note book ready to write down how to do the plethora of drills we have spent 15 months working on. How does he fit it in to his first class schedule?

This turned out to be a very different chat and coaching session.

Sonny - trust the process.

1. The drills are there to build trust. They reinforce the hard work you’ve done. They don’t need to change they can simply be part of your routine

2. Build routines. You know your intent before you run in. You know how to reset yourself and re focus (dmds + activations + initiations). You know your cue and when to use. Trust it

3. You know your role. You know what you have been picked to do. Don’t be someone else else they’ll Pick someone else.

4. Block the noise. What works for you works for you

No drill review

No change in the program

No panic

We dont do enough of these type of sessions in general but there is no doubt the value cant be measured.

Proud dad and club moment. Today Jack debuted for the hurricanes. A club both me and my dad are life members of and have been involved with since 1975. I was the first player born to a player in the club to play and Jack now joins that list. At the same time Jack is the first third generation player for the club. Result didn’t go our way today but nonetheless proud of the effort and the achievement and to be able to play cricket with my son.

A game changer thought for many fast bowlers out there who are coached to be biomechanically correct but can’t and shouldn’t do one of the structural not negotiable for the body - seperate the shoulders from the hips
