Instead of wasting money creating THRIVING KIDS, we could invest in creating education and teacher development programs within the education systems. One repetitive challenge we encounter is working with educators who have not been trained to provide education supports to the neurodiverse population. Teachers are expected to implement 'reasonable adjustments' which require an understanding of developmental principles and knowledge, yet they are not trained to understand these principles or how to apply to their students.

A 2022 People Matter Employee Survey revealed that two-thirds of NSW public school teachers reported feeling burnt out. Only about 32% felt they could manage work stress, and just 19% believed they had enough time to do their job well or were fairly paid.

Psychological injuries linked to workload have surged—from 349 cases in 2021–22 to 577 in 2022–23—as recognized by the NSW Teachers Federation and a parliamentary committee.

Lets support educators!

The NDIS is not just a cost — it acts like an economic investment. The money flows to businesses and workers, who then pay taxes, spend in the economy, and reduce reliance on other government services. That circular flow of funds is why the government can justify such a large spend. YET, It plans to cut access for the disabled and the families in which NEED Support. This makes no sense.

How did you play or Work this weekend??

Play isn't just for kids, adults do it throughout our day as well. Play has been shown to improve our mental functions such as memory and for kids enables development faster as it stimulates dopamine which supports coding or new skills, meaning less reps!

So how did you play this weekend?

How are you spending your time this weekend? Are you playing or are you working?
As adults we still play yet, in our community we often de-value play to something a child only does in their spare time.
Research has shown that play is necessary for mental wellbeing and that is improves our overall cognitive functioning.
So this weekend, lets examine what we do as adults and find what activities we do this weekend is play and what is work?

Dyspraxia or developmental coordination disorder is a brain and body disconnect. It can present in varied ways from challenges with ideation and how we string ideas along to plan or map out actions and coordinating movements.
Praxis and the ability to plan and map out actions is heavily involved in thinking and our ability to formulate our ideas to enable communication of our thoughts.
