🌿 Dhanteras — The Light of Health and Prosperity
At Dhamma Yoga, we celebrate Dhanteras not merely as a festival of wealth, but as a remembrance of the divine origin of Ayurveda — the eternal science of life.
According to ancient lore, during the Samudra Manthan — the churning of the cosmic ocean — various treasures and celestial beings emerged from its depths. On the thirteenth lunar day (Trayodashi), the divine physician Lord Dhanvantari appeared, radiating golden light, holding in His hands the sacred pot of Amrita, the nectar of immortality.
Dhanvantari embodies the healing power of consciousness — the union of wisdom, nature, and compassion. In Him, Ayurveda finds its eternal source. On Dhanteras, lamps are lit not only to invite material prosperity but also to honor health, balance, and inner radiance — the true wealth of human life.
At Dhamma Yoga, we invoke this spirit through Ayurvedic living, mindful movement, and yogic simplicity, remembering that true prosperity arises when the body, mind, and spirit dwell in harmony.
