Amisha's story
Amisha is a highly motivated professional. Throughout her career, she has developed an extensive portfolio of experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist in both the private and government sectors. Her career runs deep and has included spending time with elderly and school-aged children with complex disabilities and dire needs. In addition, her work ethic, professionalism, and goal-oriented approach to nearly every aspect in her life has contributed greatly to the overall mindset at Cloud Nine. We practice to improve lives; we want to see real results.
Amisha’s story began after she received her Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, in 2001. From there, she worked as a Paediatric Physiotherapist for three different practices between 2001 and 2004 in India. In 2004, she attended Latrobe University and recieved her Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Health, Immediately after, she enrolled in graduate school at the University of Sydney. She received her Master’s in Occupational Therapy in 2006 and went on to practice Occupational Therapy.
For nearly ten years, Amisha worked as an Occupational Therapist with several different private practices and public organizations. Immediately, Amisha realized just how much she enjoyed serving the public and especially working with the kids. After receiving her Graduate certificate in Play Therapy from Deakin University in 2017, Amisha knew she wanted to open her own practice that integrated play therapy with Paediatric occupational therapy for children in her local community.
Throughout her decade-long career as an Occupational Therapist, Amisha is committed to continuing professional development. Amisha has had the opportunity to be mentored by leading clinician in the field of paediatric occupational therapy, Dr Lucy Jane Miller. She has extensive knowledge and training in Sensory Processing Disorder treatment and evaluation through participation in the Level 1 Mentorship program with the STAR Center, Colorado, United States. Amisha has also received training in astronaut protocols, the alert program, and Willbarger’s Brushing protocol and Handwriting Without Tears. Amisha is also trained in the DIR/Floortime™ Model developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan, M.D. and Serena Wieder, Ph.D. Amisha has extensive training and certification in several auditory interventions including The listening program and and Integrated Listening System (ILS).
