When it rains, we embrace it! We are flexible, we are creative, and we always have fun!

Look (and listen) how we noticed nature with our sense of hearing by making beautiful rain music! šŸŽ¶

Grab your binoculars (or just your cuppa and phone) – because today’s the day! šŸ¦šŸ’š

The Aussie Bird Count has officially begun, and we’re so excited to have you on board!

From today until Sunday 26 October, every 20-minute count you submit helps BirdLife Australia take a national snapshot of our feathered friends. 🦜

It’s easy, fun and meaningful — plus, every count you submit goes into the draw to win incredible prizes! šŸŽ

Here’s how to get started:
1ļøāƒ£ Pick your spot – backyard, balcony, park or schoolyard.
2ļøāƒ£ Open the Aussie Bird Count app and tap ā€œLet’s Get Startedā€ (or just set a timer for 20 minutes).
3ļøāƒ£ Count the birds you see — note the species and number.
4ļøāƒ£ Submit your sightings via the app or online.

Whether you’re counting solo, with kids, or with your whole workplace, this is your moment to slow down, connect with nature, and celebrate the birds around you. 🌿

Children’s Week is a national celebration of children’s rights, held each year across Australia around the fourth Wednesday in October. It highlights the rights of children to thrive, learn, play and be heard, as set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Thousands of children and families take part in events and activities throughout the week. These are organised at national, state and local levels and involve schools, playgroups, early learning centres, libraries, community organisations and cultural groups.

Children’s Week celebrates the right of every child to enjoy their childhood. It is also a time to recognise and value children’s talents, skills and contributions.

At the centre of the week is Universal Children’s Day. This day reminds us to uphold the dignity and rights of all children, especially those who face disadvantage or do not have access to the essentials for a safe, happy and healthy life.
