๐ŸŒฟ A Gentle Health Reminder for Our GCFC Families ๐ŸŒฟ

As we move through to the colder months, we kindly ask families to please keep children home from therapy if they are unwell.

If your child has symptoms such as:
๐Ÿคง Runny nose
๐Ÿ˜ท Cough
๐ŸŒก๏ธ Temperature / fever
๐Ÿค’ Feeling generally unwell

please cancel or reschedule your session.

While we understand that cancelling therapy can be disappointing, this helps us protect our therapists, staff, and the many children who attend the centre, some of whom have compromised immune systems or medical vulnerabilities.

Keeping everyone healthy allows us to continue providing the best possible support for all families.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep our community safe and well ๐Ÿ’›

โœจ New Group โ€“ Spaces Available โœจ

Neurodivergent Girls Group (Ages 8โ€“11)

๐Ÿ—“ Mondays | 3:00pm

Weโ€™re excited to offer a small, supportive group for neurodivergent girls aged 8โ€“11, focused on understanding who they are, how they communicate, and what helps them thrive.

This group will be co-facilitated by Speech Pathologist Peta Walzak and Occupational Therapist Linda Collier, bringing together a multidisciplinary perspective that supports both communication and regulation.

Drawing on their combined professional knowledge, the group is thoughtfully designed to support each childโ€™s unique profile.

Using a strengths-based, neuro-affirming approach, sessions are interest-led and include:

๐ŸŽจ Craft
๐ŸŽฒ Cooperative board games
๐ŸŽฎ Games and shared interests
๐Ÿ’ฌ Guided discussion
๐Ÿคธ Gentle movement and body-based awareness

Through these activities, girls are supported to explore their individual strengths, communication styles, and self-advocacy, while also developing insight into how their bodies and nervous systems work best.

As with any group, differences in ideas and sensitivities can arise. These moments are used as opportunities to build collaborative problem-solving, empathy, and mutual understanding โ€” supporting participants to be themselves while also feeling safe and comfortable with others.

๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒž GCFCโ€™s first ever Beach Camp Birrongโ€ฆ and what a week it has been!

We are so incredibly proud of everything our campers achieved. This wasnโ€™t just a camp filled with fun activities โ€“ it was a week of growth, courage, connection and huge personal wins.

Across the week we saw:
โœจ Social confidence blossom as friendships formed, teamwork grew, and kids supported one another through challenges
๐Ÿ’ช Resilience in action as campers tried new and tricky activities like high ropes and the giant swing, often pushing past nerves to say โ€œI can do thisโ€
๐Ÿงญ Independence shine through with children managing their belongings, routines, and transitions with growing confidence
๐Ÿคธโ€โ™‚๏ธ Motor skills develop through raft building, beach games, soccer, laser tag and active challenges that built strength, coordination and body awareness
๐ŸŽจ Creativity and calm during craft sessions, offering space for regulation and expression

From raft building and problem-solving together, to cheering each other on at the giant swing, strategising in laser tag, moving freely in beach games and soccer, and finding quiet focus in craft โ€“ every moment had purpose and meaning.

Beach Camp Birrong showed us once again what happens when children are supported in a safe, nurturing environment that celebrates effort, not perfection. The courage we saw, the laughter we heard, and the pride on their faces is something weโ€™ll carry with us for a long time.

Thank you to our incredible team, our brave campers, and the families who trusted us with something so special. ๐Ÿ’™
