Cosy up, its cold outside.

In Chinese Medicine, the middle of Winter is the time for slowing down, for having earlier nights and longer sleep-ins. Its the time for stillness, quiet contemplation, hibernation, having less to say... Its the time for curling up by the campfire, going inward, sipping on hot tea and wearing thick woollen socks (which protects the important Kidney channel). Its also the time of the unconscious, for reflecting and retreating rather than expending too much energy. In Nature most of the growth is happening deep in the earth, unseen, and this quieter slower time is super important before the rejuvenation and new growth of Spring x

"Nature does not hurry, but everything is accomplished" Lao Tzu

The beauty of slow growth 💚 This Tasmanian mountain rainforest beauty, arthrotaxis laxifolia, grows 1-2 mm in diameter each year but can live for more than 1300 years. She houses both male and female cones and relies on the mountain winds to spread her seeds. Eventually she will grow to 20 metres high, an invaluable forest Elder with important messages to share with us all. Already she is full of radiant wisdom and messages about slowing down.
