🌦🐴 Protocol Day Wrap-Up 🐴🌦

Despite a rainy start (which we certainly needed 🌧) and some surprisingly muggy Blayney weather, it turned into a fantastic day of learning, fine-tuning and progress.

There were plenty of valuable takeaways:
✔ Riding with greater accuracy
✔ Sharpening lines and geometry
✔ Fine-tuning transitions
✔ Clear, constructive feedback from both our protocol judges.

Most importantly, there were lots of smiles, more new faces, thoughtful conversations, and well-deserved pats for very good horses 💛

🙏 A huge thank you to our awesome protocol judges Annabelle Warren and Amy McKenzie, our fantastic Pencillers Kim, Amy and Brooke, our volunteers, riders and their support crews who made the day run so smoothly. Days like these are what build confidence and set combinations up for a strong season ahead.

• Please keep sessions running on time to ensure fair access for all. Riders may be asked to exit when their time concludes.
• Refresh yourself on warm-up etiquette

🐎 Understanding the Equine Gut 🌿

Horses are hindgut fermenters, relying on a diverse population of microbes to break down fibre and convert it into usable energy.

These microbes don’t just support digestion. They also contribute to:
• energy production
• vitamin synthesis
• immune signalling
• metabolic regulation

When microbial diversity is reduced, the entire system becomes more vulnerable. Research increasingly links reduced gut diversity to metabolic stress, inflammation and digestive instability.

A healthy gut ecosystem supports long-term soundness and resilience.

✏️ We’re looking for pencillers to assist at our Protocol Day on Sunday 22 February at Blayney Showground.

📝 Super easy… traditional paper version - no tablets being used on this occasion. Just bring a pen/pencil 🙃✏️🖊️

🕘 Approx. 9:00am – 4:00pm

You’re welcome to volunteer for:
• The full day
• Morning session only
• Afternoon session only

Pencilling is a fantastic way to:
✔ Learn how judges assess tests
✔ Gain insight into scoring and comments
✔ Support your club and fellow members
✔ Contribute to a smooth and professional event

No experience necessary — guidance will be provided.
