Having been a midwife since 1996 I have worked in all fields of midwifery, infant, child and maternal health.

I have run the highly acclaimed calmbirth classes in the blue mountains since 2009 and would love you to book into a class and get to know you.

Blue Mountains Calmbirth is running evening classes commencing on:
Wednesday 7th February 630pm -930pm. Classes will run over 4 consecutive Wednesdays.

Blue Mountains Calmbirth is running evening classes in 2024.They will run one class per week over 4 consecutive weeks from 630pm-939pm. This will free up your weekends and give you lots of time to process the information, rehearse it and have ongoing support. The first class for 2024 will run from Wednesday 7th February - Wednesday 28th February.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐢-𝐟𝐢 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤.

Did you know that from 18 weeks pregnant your baby can hear internal sounds? And from 28ish weeks they can hear sounds from outside the womb.

At birth they have the hearing of an adult! Yet it sometimes can take a few goes for your baby to pass their hearing test and rarely is it actually caused by deafness.

The pictured little machine is used to transmit clicks or tones into the baby's ears while sensors placed on the baby's head measure responses. This is pain free and only takes 5-10minutes to complete.

𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐓:
1️⃣ Fluid in the middle ear from in the womb interrupts the sound waves (most common reason for a baby not to pass first go).
2️⃣ Vernix clogging the ear.
3️⃣Baby is unsettled or in a noisy environment.

If your babe doesn’t pass first go it’s all good! The test will be repeated again over the coming days once some of these factors have had time to settle.
