This is such a tragedy that happened out at Penrith today. A very difficult day indeed for our emergency personel that was tasked to this rescue and absolute horrific day for the family and friends of the deceased.

Please see below a statement from Penrith SES.

Today Penrith SES assisted NSW Police in a search for a missing male at Penrith Beach.

We are very sorry for such a tragic loss and send our deepest condolences to his loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.

Thank you to all the incredibly dedicated emergency service teams who came and assisted today. We are very grateful for your time and professionalism.

🚫Penrith Beach is closed, please do not attend and avoid the area.

📸 This is really good advice if you’re travelling these holidays by plane and you or a loved one has anaphylaxis.

If you're travelling by plane these holidays, it is important to know these four tips to help avoid anaphylaxis 👇

• Bring your own food, it’s the safest option. Check with the airline to see if there are any restrictions on the food you can bring on board, and if there are rules on what you can bring into the country you're travelling to or transitting through.
• Always keep your adrenaline injectors and ASCIA action plan for anaphylaxis close by with you (not in the overhead locker).
• Tell the people you're travelling with about your allergies and where your adrenaline injector is so they know what to do in case of an emergency.
• Bring wipes to wipe down your seating area to help prevent any accidental contact with food particles or spills. Wash hands or use wipes before eating.

Today I return to where it all began. 35yrs ago I walked through these walls to begin my career as a nurse. I remember thinking OMG what have I done. I was young, very young and not a clue.

Today I’m walking back in, a lot older to educate a younger generation of nurses all with that eager look on their faces, the thoughts remain the same OMG what have I done, I still don’t have a clue. 😳

Today the expectations are different I’m supposed to know stuff apparently. OMG people are looking at me like I know stuff. 🤷🏻

It’s weird walking these old walls and beautiful grounds. Here’s to a new generation of carers, nurses, allied health staff, groundspeople and everyone else that makes the health system turn and provide high quality care to our patients and resident’s alike everyday, no matter what the time or the crisis, they are there.

Have a great day everyone and remember for all of you just starting your careers, it’s ok not to know stuff, life is an education in itself.

It’s ok to ask lots of questions until you get it, there are so many wonderful opportunities coming your way, embrace and enjoy the moment.
