ACTIVE OT & CAMP RESET STATEMENT:
In light of the recent media exposure regarding service that abused the human rights of the children who were meant to be in their supportive care, we felt it was needed to make a statement.
Firstly we do not support such actions or services, what they have done is abuse.
Secondly our services do not align with any such service or approach.
It is awful to read & become aware of programs across USA which have abused children & the role they are supposed to play in healing. This is not ok & breaks our heart to hear.
We can appreciate how this leads to fear in communities & carers with regards to trusting services. Be aware these services take children against their will at night & advocate for harsh discipline, going against trauma-responsive care. Trauma-responsive care is relationship based, focuses on connection & nurturing, values seeing, hearing & respecting individuals, sees behaviours as responses to understand & respects that individuals & families must be active in choosing to engage in the steps involved in the services including attending.
We certainly not only connect with the parents / cares we also meet with the child & share with them prior to the camp so that they feel aware of, connect with us & have the opportunity to ask questions & make an informed choice as to whether they want to join us on camp.
As an allied health practice & providers in Australia, we are not allowed to under our registration regulations, share testimonials (in case they are falsified). Where we can understand why there is this regulations it can also make it challenging for services & the community alike to gain trust & security in the services. We can outline:
- we hold full AHPRA clinical registration
- we have over 15 years of clinical experience
- we have written chapters & contributed to nature therapy books globally
- we continue to present workshops globally across leading childhood trauma conferences
- we mentor clinicians globally on trauma-responsive care
- we have children ourselves & practice what we share clinically & professionally share the same care we do for our own children
- we continue to witness & receive life changing positive feedback from children & their carers who have & continue to attend camps & our services.
We do have a video of children on a camp which are honest snapshots of the joy shared.

I hope this helps build faith in our services.
The healing opportunities of quality & caring nature-based services are integral in supporting children presenting with trauma.
We continue to provide trauma-responsive, quality & caring nature based service to children & communities in need.
Love, compassion & sincerity.
