A SOUND LIFE

A SOUND LIFE Helping people in need build the resilience to cope with adversity through music, yoga and meditation

A Sound Life helps people in need build the resilience required to cope with adversity and stress. We do this by using music, yoga and meditation to reinstate harmony between their hearts and minds. The most vulnerable people in our communities often have the least access to the tools for transformation, resilience, connection and empowerment. We are committed to changing that and to helping them

confidently surf the waves of life and realise they can experience complete joy within their lives. Since 2014, we’ve serviced over 50 facilities, positively impacting over 30,000 people in our community who need it the most. We have over 350 committed ASL volunteers who have delivered over 2,500 free music, yoga and meditation sessions to date. These numbers are a testament to who we are as an organisation, the culture we have created, our ambition and dedication, what we’ve achieved and the way we serve. Our compassionate and committed team of skilled volunteers include musicians, yoga and meditation teachers. These volunteers deliver regular programs to people in health care facilities such as hospitals and disability centres, while also delivering programs to underserved communities such as youth at risk and women's shelters. We’ve witnessed the joy and resilience our tools can deliver time and time again, which is why we are so sure they can make a difference to all lives and why we're energised to do just that.

Trauma often disconnects us, from our bodies, from our breath, from each other. Judith Herman names it plainly: recovery happens through relationship and reconnection.

That’s what we hold at A Sound Life, through simple, steady moments of care: music at the bedside, trauma-aware yoga, gentle meditation, and mentoring that helps people feel safe enough to soften again.

If you’ve ever wondered what supports trauma recovery, this is a good place to start: safety, choice, and connection, repeated over time.

We deliver free wellbeing sessions across Australia, including NSW, Victoria, Queensland, and online, in hospitals, aged care, disability services, and community settings.

Music has always been our language. But A Sound Life began with something deeper than music. It began with love, loss, and a promise to keep showing up for people who need it most.

Swipe through to meet the heart behind our story. ♡

Since 2014, we've delivered 6,568 sessions, reached 72,268 people across 108 facilities, and generated $16.82 in social value for every dollar invested. Every single session, free.

If our story moves you, there are three ways to be part of it: volunteer, donate, or simply share this post with someone who needs to hear it today.

We’ve just wrapped our latest Trauma Aware Yoga Teacher Training, and we’re feeling so grateful.

When yoga is taught with safety, choice and respect at the centre, it becomes more than a class. It becomes a nervous system support. A way to reconnect with breath, build trust in the body, and feel a little more steady in the midst of hard seasons.

A huge thank you to the future volunteers who showed up with care, curiosity and a real commitment to doing this work well, and to our training team for holding such a grounded, practical space.

We cannot wait to see these skills ripple out into hospitals, aged care, disability and mental health settings, where small moments of calm can change the whole day.

If you’d like to be part of a future intake, keep an eye on our updates and register your interest via the link in bio.

This reel was filmed during chair yoga at one of our newest partner facilities - an aged care community.

There was such a gentle energy in the room: people moving at their own pace, using the chair for support, and sharing a few quiet laughs along the way.
Chair yoga is a beautiful reminder that wellbeing doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right support, simple movement and breath can help people feel steadier, looser in the body, and more connected to themselves and each other.

A big thank you to our volunteer teacher Ania for guiding today’s session with so much care, and to everyone who joined in (they also loved the sound healing).
“I don’t feel anything (pain or discomfort)!”
Thank you to the facility team for welcoming us in. We’re looking forward to many more sessions together. ⭐️

Gratitude is not just a nice idea. Research is increasingly linking gratitude with better wellbeing, and a Harvard Health Publishing article even explores evidence that it may be associated with longevity.

One of the key findings shared is from a large study of older women, where those with the highest gratitude scores had a modest reduction in mortality risk over the following years. The article is also clear that this was observational research, meaning it cannot prove cause and effect.

What we love most is how practical this is. Gratitude does not require perfect circumstances. It starts with attention.

Try one question tonight:
What was one good thing from today, even a small one?

We’ve shared the full article summary via the link below.

On ANZAC Day, we pause to honour and remember those who gave so much, those who never returned, and the families and communities who carried their legacy forward.

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun
and in the morning

We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

Did you know stress can show up in the body before we can even name it?

That’s why we love simple regulation tools you can actually use in real life: breath, gentle movement, and music.

No fixing. No forcing. Just small moments of support, over and over again.

Save this post for later, and if it feels helpful, share it with someone you care about. ❤️

This is why music matters so much.

When someone is in hospital, living with disability, navigating mental health, or simply going through a hard season, words are not always available. Sometimes the most powerful form of connection is not a conversation, it’s a song.

At A Sound Life, we see how live music can soften a room, slow the breath, and help people feel less alone. It creates a shared moment where people can exhale, reconnect, and remember their humanity.

If you have a song that has held you through something, share it in the comments. ⭐️
