This has honestly been one of my favourite conversations to date.

We covered everything — from women’s health, to or***ms, and even who’s having s*x in their 70s.

Open, honest, and so important.

We often think s*x = in*******se.

But many women experience their deepest connection through outercourse: talking, touching, kissing and emotional closeness.

For many women, desire is responsive. It often grows through affection and connection rather than starting instantly.

I had the pleasure of discussing this with Dr Amelia Haines, who does incredible work helping people better understand intimacy, relationships and s*xual wellbeing.

Happy International Women’s Day 🤍

Today I want to celebrate the incredible women I have the privilege of working alongside every day. Your dedication, compassion, and quiet strength are what make our work so meaningful. Thank you for the care you show our patients, the support you give one another, and the commitment you bring to helping families grow. I am so grateful to have such an extraordinary team beside me.

I also want to honour the brave women who place their trust in us. Allowing us to be part of such a deeply personal and important chapter of your life is something we never take lightly. Your courage, resilience, and hope inspire us every single day.

Today we celebrate women supporting women — in our team, in our clinic, and in the journeys we share together. 💛

IVF wasn’t easy. There were moments that tested her patience, her heart, and her strength. It took deep breaths, quiet determination, and the courage to keep going — even when the results weren’t what she’d hoped for.

But now, holding her “dream child” in her arms, the struggle feels like a distant memory. 🤍

There’s been a lot of talk about the benefits of testosterone lately but what does it actually do for women, especially those trying to conceive?

When I sat down with Edora, she spoke so honestly about her embryo transfer journey. Her first transfer was planned, medications were taken, hope was building… and then we had to cancel. Her uterine lining simply hadn’t thickened enough to give that beautiful embryo the very best chance.
Medically, it was the right decision.Emotionally, it was devastating.

She had already begun imagining herself pregnant. Cancelling felt like the rug had been pulled from beneath her. And yet — this is where trust becomes so important. Trust in the process. Trust in timing. Trust that sometimes waiting is an act of protection, not loss.

Edora later told me how grateful she was that we chose not to proceed unless conditions were “perfect.” Because embryos deserve the very best environment we can give them. And so do you.

We waited two more months. We allowed her body the time it needed. We adjusted. We supported. We hoped — gently.

The second time, her lining responded beautifully. And her very first actual embryo transfer was successful. She describes it as being “blessed.”

What I see, as her doctor, is courage. Patience. And a willingness to hold both disappointment and hope at the same time.

Sometimes the pause is part of the miracle. 🤍

S*x, when to have it and how often?

Men, wait until the end. This involves you as well!

My amazing client first came to see me after 12 months of trying to conceive. Alongside the emotional weight of not falling pregnant, she had been quietly living with ongoing pelvic pain.

A laparoscopy revealed endometriosis, which we treated — an important step forward in understanding her body and restoring hope. She wanted to try a less interventional approach initially, so we commenced ovulation induction with Clomid. When this didn’t bring the outcome she hoped for, and after enduring the heartbreak of two miscarriages, it would have been easy to feel defeated.

But her strength was extraordinary.

We moved to IVF, and her embryos were genetically screened. From that cycle, a chromosomally normal embryo was transferred — and that embryo is now her beautiful baby boy.

Today, she holds him in her arms.

She also has two embryos in storage. One is genetically normal and available should she wish to grow her family again. The other remains unscreened — another possibility for the future.

Her journey was not simple. It held pain, uncertainty and profound resilience. But it also held courage, science, perseverance and ultimately, joy.

It is such a privilege to walk alongside women like her — strong, hopeful and unwavering in their love for the family they dream of building.

In my conversation with Edora, she shared how she and her husband discovered they were both carriers of the same gene linked to deafness.

Initially, it didn’t feel like a major issue, but after speaking with genetic counsellors and understanding the uncertainty around severity — from mild hearing loss to complete deafness — they were faced with an important decision. With IVF, they were given information, options, and the space to choose whether embryo screening felt right for them.

These are deeply personal decisions, and stories like Edora’s highlight the power of informed, supported choice.
