More about Zoe’s experience in the corporate tech world. She has worked with many different types of people. Zoe sees each person as having unique needs which is in line with the doshas or individual body types as stated in Ayurveda.
Through Zoe’s life over the past 30 years as mother, carer and business owner she has maintained excellent health in a busy professional life in Technology using the tools of Yoga and Ayurvda. Zoe calls herself a Hi-Tech-Yogi and can empathise with many people who sit for extended lengths of time at a desk in front of a screen.
In fact Zoe used to be office-bound, stay up late at night, and function purely on adrenaline. As a result she felt the crippling lack of peace in her body and mind. In spite of a natural inclination towards eating healthy foods, she needed to find a sustainable way to manage her life’s challenges.
Consequently Zoe studied Yoga and Ayurveda as a Therapy this helped her to detox the toxins in her body from living a fast pace in the corporate world. These tools include yoga, breathing, meditation and relaxation. Learning to integrate these tools in a sustainable way is an art that she is bringing into your home with the Yoga Works for Over 40s (online) classes You will develop skills to use to bring your body back to health when you are out of sync with life.
Where Zoe’s Yoga journey first started
Zoe first learned about Yoga, retreating from technology overload on a houseboat in Kashmir in 1984. It was in Pune, India on her way to Srinagar, where she purchased her first Yoga book - ‘Light on Yoga’ by BKS Iyengar. Consequently she would go onto the private houseboat and work through the asanas (exercises) in the book. In fact it was there in the Himalayas she learnt to use the skills of Yoga and began to detox from a digital overload.
The Iyengar Yoga style is based on precision. This was the perfect foundation for Yoga to enter into Zoe's life. Likewise the main element of the BKS Iyengar style requires focusing on the body sensations when in poses. The result Zoe found was a peaceful mind after a practice. The stretching and strengthening asanas, pranayama (breathing) and meditation (mindfulness) were just what she needed. Together they form a bridge between the body and the mind.
In 1990 Zoe took her first Yoga Teachers training in Hatha Yoga. The principal of the Triad Yoga School, Anne Sharpen is from the first wave of Yoga teachers in Sydney and she is aligned with the IYTA. Here Zoe also learnt the philosophy studying the ancient vedic texts.
In 2001 Zoe built a Yoga studio on a family rural property. She also ran Yoga classes in many places throughout the mid North Coast. Zoe hosted Buddhist and Yoga teachers from Sydney for weekend workshops.
Combining Yoga and Ayurveda
Zoe had always been interested in Ayurveda and in between 2004 - 2008, Zoe studied the art of combining Yoga and Ayurveda as a Therapy, in Australia and India. For this reason Zoe believes Yoga and Ayurveda combined are the complete package. One without the other is only half the benefit as they provide for each person tips how to digest life. In 2016, Zoe took on graduate studies in Yoga Therapy and is a member of the Australian Association of Yoga Therapists (AAYT).
Busy lifestyles benefit from Yoga and Ayurveda
Zoe makes Yoga Ayurveda Therapy accessible to everyone. Yet she does this in the tradition of the ancient Indian teachings by combining Yoga with Ayurveda. Consequently it does not matter your age, state of health or condition.
Zoe is more than a Yoga teacher she deeply understands how to navigate an unbalanced professional life, transform grief and come back to a state of balance.
Life experiences increase empathy
Zoe has a lived experience with people with special needs. Her brother Keith, suffered an acquired brain injury at 7 years of age, when she was only a baby. From this life changing experience she has developed deep empathy for people with challenges. Above all she has the rare intuitive ability to connect with many types of people . After losing her first son, Zoe dived into an understanding of her inner self.
Incorporating Buddhist meditation helped Zoe unpack her life events. She transformed her grief using self development and transpersonal work. Grief can be a very deep and transformative change to a person’s life. As a result Zoe began to understand the patterning of her life. Just like a jigsaw puzzle the elements came together. Out of this we have an excellent coach for people managing stress, anxiety, grief, money, addiction, trauma and PTSD.
From her own life journey, bringing son, Zoe completed a BA Dip Ed as a single mom. She taught technology skills TAFE and is the founder of Hi-Tech-Yogi which operates Computer Coach Australia providing training and support for business professionals, seniors and NDIS clients with special needs in everything computers. As well as Yoga Works for Over 40s. Zoe is a board member on the Bondi Chamber of Commerce.
