Most people think PCOS ā€œjust happensā€.
But for some girls, the groundwork actually starts before they’re even born.

If you had gestational diabetes, it doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong.
But it does give us a really important, potential piece of the puzzle.

Because what I see in clinic all the time is this:
šŸ‘‰ acne
šŸ‘‰ irregular periods
šŸ‘‰ blood sugar crashes
šŸ‘‰ ā€œpicky eatingā€ + constant cravings

…getting brushed off as ā€œteenage hormonesā€

When really, they’re early signs of deeper imbalance.

The good news?
This is exactly where nutrition + root cause support can make a huge difference.

Not just for symptoms now…
but for long-term hormonal health.

Comment PCOS if you want to know how I approach this in clinic šŸ’Œ

Guyyys food is crazy šŸ¤‘ right now & I keep having conversations with clients & friends about how we can cut down on family food costs, without compromising on our Nutrition. Making most of your meals & snacks at home (obviously) helps - I find all the packet snack foods really add up quickly too. Plus, a bit of light meal planning helps to keep costs down by reducing food waste as well. I’m always digging around the sale meat section in whatever supermarket I’m in & I’ll just throw it in the freezer if we’re not using it straight away. Cuts of meat like mince, drumsticks plus mixing in some of the great plant proteins like lentils, beans & tofu hep to stretch out a meat meal, but they also add really valuable source of fibre to a meal as well šŸ‘šŸ¾
Eating wholefood really doesn’t have to be overly complicated - we don’t need lots of recipes & wild ingredients to be healthy. Just use up whatever random bits you have & turn it into a meal šŸ„—
What are you go-to cheap(ish) family meals?

A day on a plate for my 12 year old. He’s pretty small for his age & he’d love to grow a bit this year. He’s never had a huge appetite (it goes up & down), but he used to be incredibly fussy & he’s come a long long way with the variety that he eats & how much he loves & views food šŸ‘ŒšŸ¾

It’s also school holidays, so we’re feeling pretty relaxed about food!

Most people think PCOS just ā€œstartsā€ in the teen years.
But for some girls… the groundwork actually begins before they’re even born.
If you had gestational diabetes, this isn’t about blame.
But it is something worth knowing.
Because what I see in clinic all the time is this:
šŸ‘‰ acne that won’t settle
šŸ‘‰ irregular or missing periods
šŸ‘‰ constant sugar cravings + energy crashes
šŸ‘‰ being told ā€œit’s just hormonesā€
When really… these can be early signs of insulin resistance (which is one of the key drivers of PCOS)

And here’s the part most people miss šŸ‘‡
The teen years aren’t too early to do something about it
They’re actually the best time
Because when we support:
✨ blood sugars
✨ gut health
✨ key nutrients
We’re not just helping symptoms now
We’re supporting long-term hormone health
And that can change everything

If this is your daughter (or you had gestational diabetes yourself), comment PCOS and I’ll send you where to start šŸ¤

You’re telling me … we replace hormones in women because they matter for long-term health … but we shut them down in teens while their bodies are still learning to regulate them?!

The pill can absolutely have a place. But calling it ā€œhormone balancingā€ is where things get misleading.

Because the Pill doesn’t balance hormones, it over rides them.

And when a teen is dealing with painful periods, acne & mood swings - that’s often a sign that the body needs support (not suppression).

Which is exactly what a focus on in clinic - a root cause, whole body approach.

If you want to explore support for your teen, comment REEN PERIOD & I’ll send you a DM about how we get started šŸ’Œ
