I think complimentary therapeutic approaches and social prescribing are two of the big areas we can utilise for health and wellbeing outcomes. Not everyone needs to follow the medical model and training to offer effective interventions. What we need to support them to do is to use evidence to support them in a professional manner so they get into the position to complement medicine and western modern approaches to therapy. And allied health therapy professionals can help with this (we have already done it in our own professions) and could be a good place to start with integrative therapy. I don’t believe it’s all or nothing. I believe it’s all about an eclectic approach to integrative health. Modern medicine and ancient healing together with support of community is the key I’m sure.
