Live Well Rehab has been improving the physical and mental health of the community for many years. Accredited exercise physiologists are university qualified healthcare professionals, backed by Exercise and Sport Science (ESSA). Doctors often refer patients to see us to help in the treatment process for injuries, illness, or other diagnosed conditions. Physiology extends on the treatment a physiotherapist can provide by providing specific health and wellness programs that cover not just exercise but also dietetics and muscle rehab. Physiologists can also treat diseases and other conditions that do not usually fall in the scope of those treated by a physio. Our exercise physiologists are located throughout Brisbane so be sure to visit our website to find the location closest to you. If you're with a health fund, exercise physiology treatments may be available to you so check with your provider.

“Exercise is a micro-stressor to help you handle the macro-stressors”

This is true across a few aspects!
On a tissue level, micromanage occurs as we exercise and push thresholds of our tissues. But not to be alarmed! This is very normal and most of the time you won’t notice it happens unless the stimulus really exceeds the threshold… helloooo Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)😅
This can also represent our mentality with facing and overcoming discomfort! Exercise is very much a challenge we can take on and gain control! By pushing ourselves to do something uncomfortable, resilience grows and we can be stronger in other mentally challenging times.

- Sessions will continue as normal, if you are concerned or too ill to attend, Telehealth options are still available.
- If you are unwell, stay at home and recover
- Exercise is medicine; along with our other foundations of health (sleep, nutrition, sunlight, mental wellness), these will be key components to your health and recovery!

- Sessions will continue as per normal with social distancing
- If you’re feeling unwell, stay home

When it comes to your rehab program, understand there are aspects you can manage if you find yourself stuck in a flare up, drained of energy or struggling to perform the tasks!
While we’re not saying change the program your health professional or trainer has given you... stick to it as close as you can, but you are allowed to tweak it on occasion when the body is struggling!
Discuss these tips with your health professional so you know what the best adjustments are for you! 😃👍

We know the gym looks a lot like this right now due to the restrictions 👻... but not to worry, there’s still plenty we can do and you can too!

Here’s our best tips for reinforcing a healthy immune system!
🔸Get some quality sleep! Less TV/screens at night will help reduce cortisol levels so your body can relax and restore from the stressors of life
🔸Keep active! Building a strong fit body promotes energy production and robustness against illnesses
🔸reduce sedentary time, keep yourself entertained with fun or mindful tasks. Life is meant for experiences, not to spend hours each day sitting still.
🔸Supply the building blocks for your body to heal and maintain function = quality & nourishing foods!
🔸Stay connected. Social health and happiness through connection is just as important as physical health.

Life has hiccups, some we expect, some we don’t. But all are opportunities to overcome barriers and learn how to be adaptable for strength & survival!

‼️COVID UPDATE!‼️
Unfortunately due to the circumstances, our Kallangur clinic will be closed from Tuesday 30 March as per QLD govt restrictions, followed by the Good Friday and Easter Monday Public Holidays! EP Ben will be back in the following Tuesday 06 April!🙋🏽‍♂️
Bribie Island clinic will continue to be open for appointments this week, but the gym will be closed to members of the public. Closure for Easter Public holidays also apply.
Masks will be mandatory upon arrival- but allowed to be removed while you exercise! 🏃
Alternatively, Telehealth will still be available if preferred! 📞
Thank you for understanding! Stay healthy and boost immunity by finding time for exercise, nourishing food, sunlight and quality sleep!

‼️HOWEVER, that does not mean you are doomed to a life of restriction! ‼️
Your body is incredibly resilient, adaptable and wants your support! Even if you’re in your 30s or 40s and catch yourself saying “I’m just getting old” in response to an ache or fatigue... take a moment to think, maybe this is actually your body calling out saying it needs your help to this stress! 📢
You have the tools, biology and physiology and the environment (internal and external) to support your body!

This is one we love to share with all our clients! And for many good reasons! We’ve listed some of the top points in the graphic... but here are some more important ones to consider...
🔸 Movement encourages more movement - sedentary lifestyles tell your body it doesn’t use a lot of energy, in turn lowering metabolism to prevent wasting energy. If we keep moving, our body works to keeps providing energy to meet its demands. ⚡️
🔸Break barriers - if you feel restricted by your pain or chronic conditions, practicing any movement starts to break down those barriers or restriction. Whether the movement directly relates to your limitations, you start to find more things you CAN do, rather than only seeing the things you can’t do. Your body is not fragile. We can help it become quite ROBUST! 💪

💥STIMULATION vs AGGRAVATION 💥
A key component in your rehabilitation is not just performing the exercises, but understanding what thresholds to challenge with these movements!
If we interpret pain signals as varying sensations, we find might actually be feeling a response to fatigue, stretch or work load as opposed to increased inflammation. We also understand that exercises don’t have to be pain free to be safe or effective, but knowing what signals we can work through and what signals to back off, we can better tailor progress and optimise rehab!
These are some simple points to observe and use as a guide, still recognising our bodies are not so black & white. Learn how to interpret your body’s responses and you’ll understand how to appropriately challenge to adapt!
