Today is International Women’s Day, and the 2026 Give to Gain Campaign encourages a culture of generosity, collaboration, and support across our communities.

At St John Queensland, Give to Gain reflects the idea that when we lift others up, we strengthen everyone. By giving our time, knowledge, encouragement, and opportunities, we create an environment where women can grow, lead, and thrive.

Giving is not about losing something, it’s about multiplying impact. When we support and empower women across our organisation and the communities we serve, we build stronger teams, stronger leaders, and a stronger future.

Because when women thrive, we all rise. 💜

Today we hear from Christine, First Aid Trainer and Assessor who shares what International Women's Day means to her. This is what she had to say.

"Acknowledgement of women and myself to share special skills to help pass on information to benefit others. Also to feel proud of themselves for helping build a more positive and knowledgeable set of skills for the next generation. I am fortunate enough to have been able to gain some of these skills to pass on. You go girls!"

Strong communities are built through leadership, support, and shared experiences. In the lead-up to International Women’s Day, we’re proud to share the perspectives of women across our organisation.

Today’s feature: Ellie, Service Consultant.

“Nearly four years with St John has taught me confidence, resilience and independence. My role takes me across Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast, and while working solo can be challenging, it’s also incredibly empowering. I’m proud to support our community in first aid every day. International Women’s Day is a reminder to empower each other and always back yourself.”

"It's a day that honours the woman who lead quietly and powerfully, the ones that hold teams together, guide communities through change and show up with compassion even when the work is heavy. It's been an absolute honour to learn from these women and stand beside them."

Supporting women strengthens families, workplaces, and communities. As we continue our International Women’s Day countdown, we’re highlighting the voices behind the impact.

Today’s spotlight is on Lisa, State Recruitment and Onboarding Coordinator for Event Health Services [pictured centre].

“International Women’s Day, to me, is an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere. Find your own road, even if it doesn’t look like anyone else’s. Trust yourself enough to explore, take detours, start over, and choose what feels true to you. Supporting everyone in our community matters, but women especially need strong communities around them, and I am proud to be part of one.”

Our countdown to International Women’s Day continues as we spotlight the voices of women who make a difference every day.

Today, we hear from Elisha, Training Coordinator Scheduling and Resourcing [pictured right] whose message is a powerful reminder to back ourselves and each other.

"When they say you can’t, prove them wrong by doing it anyway. By smashing through those barriers, you’re not just winning, you’re clearing the path for every woman coming up behind you. Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you. Let’s back each other, back ourselves, and get it done".
