What keeps us going here at the Misophonia Association after 13 years of effort and now trying to assemble once again for a Misophonia convention in Dallas? What keeps tugging at our heart strings over and over again?
Well for me at least itβs mostly the fact that every single day on this earth, some young child usually between the ages of 9 to 12 years old comes down with an acute case of Misophonia, which seems almost like a lightning strike .
And the saddest thing about this condition is that those children are mostly affected by their closest family members, and these are the people that they love the most and the ones who love them the most .
In this way, I do think itβs one of the cruelest conditions in the world because the child doesnβt understand at this age why this is happening and can hardly explain it with words .
We must keep striving and trying and fighting and funding research and creating support and bringing together people who are just like one another so they can find support and comfort and being surrounded by other people who have made it through many phases of life with Misophonia and who refused to give up .
Thatβs my why .
