Congratulations to our surgeon A/Prof Sina Babazadeh for being accepted into the prestigious ABC Travelling Fellowship for 2024!

Every two years, one Australian Orthopaedic Association member is selected for a five-week tour of orthopaedic centres in North America. The Fellowship offers an exceptional academic experience and is very highly regarded by all participating orthopaedic associations.

Sina will be touring from May to July this year.Well done Sina for your dedication and expertise in the field. We’re proud to have you on our team and look forward to the knowledge and experience you will bring back from this incredible opportunity!

Meet our specialist - Dr Korana Musicki

Dr Korana Musicki is an experienced Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon. She provides quality care for arterial and venous disease in public and private settings. She offers a wide range of therapeutic options, including comprehensive medical management, contemporary minimally-invasive techniques, and more complex open surgery.

Dr Musicki has been dedicated throughout her education and training. Her degrees in Medical Science and Medicine/Surgery at the University of Sydney saw her attain the University Medal, Class I Honours and many other accolades. Her vascular surgery training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons has taken her to major hospitals along the east coast of Australia, in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Oxford UK.

Dr Musicki remains passionate in her professional life. She currently teaches and trains the next generation of doctors and surgeons. She has published book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals. She often presents at local and international conferences.

Dr Musicki has a special interest in:
- Varicose veins (radiofrequency ablation, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, surgery)
- Deep vein thrombosis (thrombolysis, stenting, decompressive surgery)

Meet our Specialist - Mr Vishal Pai

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Vishal Pai, has undertaken specialist training in the United Kingdom and the United States to expand his level of expertise in all facets of knee surgery. He has a subspecialty interest in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, patellofemoral instability and robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery.

Vishal obtained his medical degree from the University of Otago in New Zealand. He completed his Orthopaedic training in Melbourne which gained him his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

His passion for sports knee injuries, including complex ligament reconstruction, saw Vishal move to the United Kingdom to do his subspecialist training where he completed two knee fellowships. The first was at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, specialising in patellofemoral stabilisation, revision knee replacement and partial knee replacement surgery. The second was in sports knee surgery at the Fortius Clinic in London working with Mr Andrew Williams, an international expert in the field. It was here that he furthered his expertise in primary and revision ACL reconstruction, multi-ligament knee reconstruction and complex meniscal repair. Vishal worked with many elite athletes at the Fortius Clinic and knows what is involved in getting an athlete safely back into competition.

Vishal was awarded six months of training in paediatric Orthopaedic surgery at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland in the United States. He found it very rewarding looking after children with knee injuries so that they could get back to playing the sports they love. ACL reconstruction in a growing child is very different from an adult, and Vishal has the expertise required to perform this surgery on children.

Meet our specialist - Mr Sina Babazadeh

Mr Sina Babazadeh is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in wrist, knee and hip surgery. He completed his surgical training in Victoria in 2018 and subsequently pursued a fellowship in Barcelona, Spain.

Sina also has significant expertise in knee surgery, specifically the arthritic knee. He spent 4 years completing a PhD in knee replacement surgery and has published numerous articles on the topic. Current interests include refining knee replacement surgery, aiming for more rapid and painless recovery, and also pursuing novel management options for early arthritis.

In addition, Sina is keenly involved in the management of hip arthritis and hip replacement surgery, using the latest evidence-based techniques to improve his patient’s recovery, function and longevity. He has had multiple research collaborations world-wide and has spent time in Belgium, Switzerland and Italy fine-tuning his operative technique.

Sina has been trained to perform standard, navigated, patient-specific and robotic joint replacement surgery, depending on the patient’s needs. His philosophy is to provide choice for the patient and tailor their management to ensure the best possible outcome for them.
