I am a Boston native and the daughter of Dominican immigrants—an educator by profession, and a woman, mother, and wife by choice. I am a firm believer in equity, and after giving birth to my two babies, Zára Isabella and Zuri Imanuel, I am more certain than ever that I want to spend my days (and nights) working to build the world we all deserve, in the ways I feel called to serve. In this new chapter—my mother era—I feel deeply drawn to birth work and to supporting birthing people through this sacred journey, especially given how far maternal healthcare is from where it should be. As a full-spectrum doula, I hope to provide the care I once needed, the love that carried me through my hardest days, and the strength my village instilled in me. I aim to offer all of this to the expectant birthing people I have the privilege to support and advocate for. Pregnancy, birth, and parenthood transform you completely. They open new doors, stretch you to your core, and challenge you to examine who you are in the midst of becoming. My lived experiences—becoming pregnant and then a mother for the first time in 2020—planted the seed for my future in birth work. My birthing experience taught me that everyone deserves a support system and fierce advocates throughout this sacred journey, no matter how or where they choose to give birth. My postpartum journey revealed the significant systemic gaps in maternal healthcare in this country, which further fuels my desire to be part of the solution. Being a doula is about more than birth work; it is heart work. It is about equity and about reclaiming our bodies. I am excited to step fully into this work and discover what it is meant to be and do in my life and in the lives of others.
