I have always loved good food and candle light or fire, i was fed up with trying to get good old fashion tucker and disgusted with the excess wastage of food, after traveling through Bali and Thailand and seeing and experiencing the food culture there & growing up on a farm, i knew i wanted to share the love of food and make it free of crap so then Whitsunday Candles & preserves was born. This page is dedicated to 2 wonderful & very amazing women who were so much a part of my life as a child and who's influenced me for my love i have for home preserves, my Aunty Gwenda who has passed away but will always be remembered every time i bottle up a Delicious preserve, i still can close my eyes and hear her and the memories i have, i always loved to get out into her garden and discover the abundance of vegetables and fruit available or over to the shed where mounds of potatoes were bagged up ready for market, getting up at some Un godly hour so we could go with Uncle Robert to help milk the cows oh how i miss those carefree days, must admit it was some of the happiest moments of my life and when i cook it brings back memories from cooking in the kitchen with grandma over a wood stove and collecting the beautiful produce from the backyard and when apples were in abundance then we were greeted with the smells of apple pie cooking after a delicious roast chicken, ( which after i enjoyed the meal and licked the fingers i find out it was a chook i named and made a pet LOL ) well at least it was fresh and grain fed well before it become the in thing!! once again as i pour my candles or cook up a long forgotten relish i remember my times with my grandmother and my Aunty and life is good and there memory is forever,Always in my heart and never forgotten, thankyou both for the love and passion you have both given me for good food. Candles also have the calming relaxing beauty within their flames, for many years we have had a memory candle in our house & still do, for each loved one or special person within our life who passes away we place a new candle on top of the previous one in a different colour & scent and burn it in remembrance of our loved one, the scent fills the room and their spirit lives on in our home, every time we look on the memory candle we fondly remember the special people in our life who made a difference.
