I'm very happy to share that I will be hosting a Death Cafe in Bowral on 23rd October at 2.30pm at the Henrietta Rose Room at Bowral Public Library, followed by an Advance Care Planning session at 5pm.
A Death Café is a group directed discussion about death and dying, with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session, and is an environment where attendees can talk about anything relating to death and dying without fear of judgement, be it to understand what they or someone they love might face in the future, or to talk about their own experiences in the past. I always bring cake so everyone can enjoy a cuppa and something tasty.
Following the Death Cafe, I will be running an Advance Care Planning session, which aims to provide an overview of what an Advance Care Plan is, what an Advance Care Directive is, and the importance of both in communicating not only with family and friends who may be likely to provide future support, but also communicating with the medical world as to what treatments would or would not be acceptable to you should you experience a significant medical incident, and be unable to talk or communicate for yourself. This session also covers off on other areas, including the appointment of a Power of Attorney and an Enduring Guardian, and why it is so important to ensure you have these trusted people in place.
So if you would like to be able to "live" your life to the fullest by understanding what your options are, and putting some plans in place, then these sessions might be for you!
Feel free to share these details with anyone you think would be interested, and either give me a call on 0416 212 219 or email me at info@endoflifeangels.com.au. I hope to see you there!
