On today's episode of "Puppy, where is my slipper....."

In the comments, type your dogs name where is my ....... and use the middle suggested word in your keyboard to complete the sentence.

For me, my new puppy Muse already has my slipper.
So ill try another one.

Muse, where is my tips on the chicken?

You can also put another comment on something wacky they have actually taken.

Muse, where is my dustpan brush?

Plaque vs. Tartar: What’s the Difference?

Did you know that not all “build-up” on your dog’s teeth is the same?

Plaque is a soft, sticky film made of bacteria and food debris. It starts forming within hours after eatingn but if you catch it early, it’s easy to remove with simple, natural daily care.

Tartar (also called calculus) forms when plaque hardens after just a couple of days. Once it sets, it turns into that yellow-brown crust on teeth and along the gumline. Tartar can’t be brushed away easily, and often needs professional removal. Tartar creates the perfect environment for more bacteria to thrive.

The key is catching plaque before it becomes tartar. And the good news is: this can be easier than you think.

Over the next little while, I’ll be sharing practical, natural ways to help you do just that, so your dog’s breath stays fresh and their gums stay healthy for years to come.

Keep an eye out. Something exciting is on the way to help you take charge of your dog’s dental health, naturally.

Safe chewing is nature’s toothbrush.
Raw meaty bones (given safely), certain dental chews, and tough veggie snacks can help scrape plaque.

If your dog’s breath could knock you over, it’s more than “just dog breath.”
It’s a sign something’s going on in the mouth. Often plaque, bacteria imbalance, or gum inflammation.
The fix? Address the cause, not just mask the smell.

Here’s something most owners don’t realise:
Plaque starts to harden into tartar in just 24–48 hours.

That means if you’re only cleaning your dog’s teeth once in a while, you’re missing the prevention window.

If your dog is not regularly eating raw meaty bones, they are at risk! Some dogs are still at risk, even with regular access to bones.

3 ways to break the cycle:
1️⃣ Daily tooth brushing (or tooth powder rub)
2️⃣ Safe, gentle chews that massage gums
3️⃣ Gum-friendly sprays or rinses to support oral health

It’s all about little daily habits that keep teeth clean and gums healthy for years.

How often do you clean your dog’s teeth? Be honest, there is no judgement!

Most dogs have dental disease by age 3.
The scary part? You might not even notice until it’s advanced.

Here’s what to watch for:
Yellow or brown build-up along the gumline
-Bad breath that lingers
-Red, swollen gums
-Dropping food or chewing on one side
-Pawing at the mouth

Left unchecked, dental disease can affect the heart, kidneys, liver, and immune system.

The good news? Daily, natural care can make a huge difference, and it doesn’t have to be stressful.

Start now: lift your dog’s lip today and take a look. What do you see?
