Echinacea is so versatile, supporting the immune system and the lymphatic system.
I use it in all types of infections, and times the immune system needs balancing.

For many families, life is starting to get back to normal after the christmas and new year break.

How did your cretures cope with the chaos of christmas and new years?

And do we have any new pets that have joined the family?

It’s common to see anxiety behaviours increase after a busy day, not during it.

The nervous system can hold things together in the moment, then struggle once the stimulation ends. This can look like restlessness, clinginess, poor sleep, or digestive upset the following day.

Boxing Day is a good time for:
• quiet routines
• low stimulation
• gentle walks
• plenty of rest

Recovery is part of regulation.

On Christmas Day, it’s easy to feel pressure. To include our dogs in everything, to make it special, to do it “right.”

But for many dogs, the best gift is simple:
• a quiet space
• familiar routines
• gentle connection
• permission to opt out

Let your dog experience today at their own pace.

If your dog feels unsettled today, please know this is very normal.

Christmas Eve often brings extra movement, noise, anticipation, visitors, changed routines, and heightened emotions in the household. For sensitive dogs, that combination can be overwhelming.

Offer quiet spaces, predictable moments, and reassurance.
Meeting your dog where they are is so important

A gentle reminder as we head into another week of holiday preparation:

Your dog isn’t being difficult.
They aren’t trying to frustrate you.
They’re communicating the only way they can that their nervous system needs help.

You’re doing the best you can.
So is your dog.

Here’s to a calmer, more supported week ahead.

A common myth in dog behaviour is that anxious dogs simply “need to get used to it.”
In reality, repeated exposure to stress without support can increase anxiety, reduce trust, and worsen behaviour over time.

Anxiety isn’t fixed through force.
It improves through safety, predictability, gentle conditioning, and appropriate support.

Daily calming support helps regulate the nervous system over time.
This creates emotional stability and resilience.

Emergency calming is for sudden spikes — fireworks, unexpected visitors, loud noises, travel, overwhelm.

Using both together creates a more complete approach to anxiety management.

If your dog seems more on edge lately, you’re not imagining it.
December brings a huge increase in noise, movement, visitors, emotional energy and routine disruption. Many dogs feel this shift strongly.

Dogs don’t need fireworks to become overwhelmed, the build-up is often enough.

You’re not doing anything wrong.
Your dog isn’t “acting out.”
Their nervous system is simply responding to the environment around them.

Here are five simple actions that can help reduce your dog’s anxiety today:

•Keep routines predictable – consistency helps calm the nervous system.
•Use slow, scent-led walks – sniffing lowers heart rate and supports regulation.
•Create a quiet rest space where your dog can retreat when overwhelmed.
•Reduce background noise (TV, loud music, constant movement).
•Add positive associations to stressful events (chews, enrichment, calm handling).

Small changes make a meaningful difference.
