Due to the continuing increase in COVID-19 cases and recent outbreaks. We have made the difficult and considered decision to re-introduce visitor restrictions.

We are aware of the challenges patients and their loved ones may have as a result of these restrictions. However, we are still making every effort to protect our patients, carers, visitors and our staff.

You can help reduce the spread and thus, allow visitor restrictions to be reduced again by getting vaccinated, wearing a mask (even when you don't have to) and practising physical distancing where you can.

Since March 2020, our staff have provided over 150,000 COVID-19 tests at our Box Hill and Healesville sites and pop up clinics.
With the nature of COVID-19 in the community continuing to evolve, our wonderful team are now shifting to providing care in other parts of our health service. As such, our COVID testing clinics will be closing.

Eastern Health would like to thank our team and support services for their tireless efforts and commitment to our community over the 2-year journey.

The last day for testing at Box Hill will be 30 June and the last day for testing at Healesville will be 29 June.

What if I need a COVID-19 test?
GP Respiratory Clinics in our local area provide testing and assessment for people with cold and flu (including COVID) symptoms – see www.emphn.org.au/gprcs to find a clinic near you.

Please be aware, our three Emergency Departments
(Angliss Hospital, Box Hill Hospital and Maroondah Hospital) are experiencing very high demand.

Please keep the emergency department for emergencies. People with non-urgent, non-life-threatening conditions should expect long waits.

At Eastern Health we continue to be committed to providing safe, high-quality care for women and their babies within Maternity Services and maintaining a positive consumer experience.

This tour will help our new mums familiarise themselves with Box Hill Hospital Maternity Wards, and get to know the processes and what to expect from their experience.

Thanks to the additional support from the Angliss Hospital staff who are providing extra capacity, care and support during the temporary relocation of their maternity services.

"Because of the pandemic, many patients are arriving at their appointment alone, without partners or carers, so our role in welcoming and guiding them to their appointment has become even more important"

Maria is a volunteer Welcome Ambassador at Box Hill Hospital and helps patients find their way when they visit the hospital. Due to pandemic restrictions, our volunteers haven't been able to provide care to patients for almost two years.

“It’s important to realise that volunteers are part of care, each and every person has a role to play in patient care, from security, reception, nurses to medical staff, we’re all here to help patients have the best possible experience they can.”

Proud parents Jacinta and Reece welcomed twins Zane and Zion in Eastern Health's dedicated COVID-19 Maternity Ward.
The unique ward provides birthing, postnatal care and a special care nursery for mothers who have tested positive to COVID-19.

"If I didn’t have this service, I wouldn’t have been able to see my twins until after my 14-day quarantine was over. This service has allowed my husband to come into the birthing suite with me even though he tested negative and has allowed us to be together when we needed it the most."
