On Thursday, I was invited to provide an access audit for Vivid Sydney. It was a spectacular night seeing some of Sydney's most iconic sites lit up, and the efforts to make this event accessible for people with a disability. I look forward to seeing the improvements that makes to ensure this event can be enjoyed by all.

Since starting my advocacy career in 2016, one of my goals has been to ensure that much-needed resources and services can be easily accessed by those who need them. This is why I am so excited to have the pleasure of being an ambassador for the National Assistance Card.

I believe this card has the potential to assist so many Australians with disabilities, and I look forward to seeing it grow as it aims to one day assist all Australians with disabilities to discreetly communicate their access needs.

The National Assistance Card is a personalised card to assist people with disability and health conditions in the community in Australia, including key information about a person and their disability related difficulties.

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). Each year on this day we pause to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and to stand against the discrimination the community still faces throughout the world.

In 2022 I proudly came out as bisexual through a post on our website with the hope of raising awareness of the intersectionality of autism and the LGBTQIA+ community. Today, however the world is a very different place with the resurgence of discriminatory laws and hateful views that now prevent much of the LGBTQIA+ community from enjoying what many take for granted. It is because of this that IDAHOBIT is especially important to acknowledge this year.

This year’s theme is The Power of Communities, and it is in this spirit that I would like to encourage everyone to show your support for LGBTQIA+ autistics and the wider LGBTQIA+ community and stand against discrimination and hate.

Today let’s celebrate and support human diversity and show the world that LGBTQIA+ individuals are welcome and safe in our communities.
