If you struggle with migraines, what you eat (or drink) might be playing a bigger role than you think. While there’s no universal trigger (everyone’s body is different), some foods are common triggers for many, and being aware of them is the first step toward prevention.

Here are some of the most common triggers to watch out for:
☕ Caffeine – Too much (or even sudden withdrawal) can spark migraines.
🍫 Chocolate – Contains caffeine and compounds that may affect blood vessels.
🍷 Alcohol – Especially red wine, which can dilate blood vessels and dehydrate the body.
🧀 Aged Cheese – High in tyramine, a known migraine trigger.

What’s important to remember: foods usually trigger migraines when combined with other factors (like stress, sleep, or hormones). This makes research tricky, because triggers are highly individualized.

Everyone is different, so keeping a Food & Symptom Journal can help you discover your personal triggers. Awareness = empowerment!
