We spent the weekend last month in Adelaide attending Concordia 2026 centred around the powerful theme: You Haven’t Come This Far, To Only Come This Far.

It was a gathering that brought together the next generation of chiropractors, mentors, and passionate professionals dedicated to growth, learning, and connection.

From inspiring talks to meaningful conversations, it’s always powerful to be surrounded by a community that shares the same vision for health and wellbeing. Dr Winnie also adjusted a few people throughout the event, extending care beyond the clinic space.

Dr Izzy also had the opportunity to meet Dr Don MacDonald, one of the inspiring speakers and chiropractic thought leaders at the event, learning about the connection between the shoulder and the pelvic floor, making the experience even more meaningful.

Make sure you watch till the end… 👀
Because before the big day on Saturday, our team had a very special Friday ✨

We had the honour of attending a Year 1 graduation ceremony to celebrate our long-missed Georgia — our future chiro in the making! So proud of how far you’ve come 🎓

And of course… it wouldn’t be a team trip without good food, laughter, and those little moments that bring us closer together. We even transformed our accommodation into a mini clinic so support was always available when needed 🙌

Stay tuned for more moments from our journey together 💙

Chiropractic care is often misunderstood, and many people only think about it when they are in pain. In reality, it is about much more than that. Here are a few things we wish more people knew: 👀

1️⃣ It’s not just about back pain
Chiropractic care focuses on supporting your nervous system, which plays a key role in how your entire body functions, not just where you feel discomfort.

2️⃣ “Cracking” isn’t the goal
The sound you may hear is simply a byproduct. The real focus is on restoring proper joint movement and improving overall function.

3️⃣ Posture matters more than you think
The way you sit, stand, and move each day can gradually shape your spine and influence how your body feels over time.

4️⃣ Healing takes consistency
True, lasting change does not happen overnight. Consistent care and healthy habits allow your body the time it needs to adapt and improve.

5️⃣ Your body is designed to heal
Your body has an incredible ability to regulate and repair itself. Chiropractic care helps reduce physical stress and interference so it can do this more efficiently.

When you begin to look at your health from this perspective, it becomes less about quick fixes and more about long-term support and function.

Stress doesn’t just affect your mind; it can show up throughout your body in ways you might not expect.

When the nervous system stays in a heightened “fight or flight” state, it can impact how your body functions day to day.

Here are 5️⃣ common signs to look out for:

✧ Fatigue – feeling tired even after rest
✧ Poor sleep – difficulty falling or staying asleep
✧ Muscle tension – tightness in the neck, shoulders, or back
✧ Mood changes – increased irritability, anxiety, or low mood
✧ Digestive changes – bloating, discomfort, or irregular digestion

These signs may be your body’s way of telling you it needs support.

When your nervous system is more regulated, your body can shift out of stress mode and into a state of rest, repair, and balance.

Chiropractic care focuses on improving spinal mobility and reducing physical stress on the body, helping the nervous system function more efficiently.

Consistent care can lead to meaningful improvements over time.

Take care of your nervous system, and your body will thank you 💙

Fun fact… chiropractic care has even been studied in chickens 🐔

In this study, 5️⃣0️⃣ broiler chickens were divided into 2️⃣groups: one received chiropractic adjustments, while the other did not. Both groups were raised under identical conditions, and their growth and meat quality were assessed at 65 days. 🧐

Key findings included ✨
✧ Greater weight gain compared to the control group
✧ Improved overall growth outcomes
✧ Better meat quality — including juiciness, tenderness, and flavour (a blind taste test with 32 participants at a local county fair!)

[Arbuckle et al. (2023), Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research.]

While this might sound surprising, it highlights something important:

The nervous system plays a key role in how the body functions, adapts, and performs.
And while humans are (thankfully) a little more complex than chickens, the same principle applies — when the nervous system is functioning well, the body is better able to regulate, recover, and maintain balance.

Chiropractic care focuses on supporting spinal mobility and reducing physical stress on the body, helping the nervous system work more efficiently.

Sometimes the smallest adjustments can make a meaningful difference 🌈

Meet the real personalities in our clinic… our plants 🌿✨

There’s just one rule here: Dr Winnie is NOT allowed to touch them (for their own safety 😅).

From Jen 1 & Jen 2 (gifted with love), to Po from Kung Fu Panda standing tall, Heihei from Moana doing his thing, and Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy growing wild… each one has its own character 💚

Hormones do not work in isolation. They are constantly being regulated by the nervous system.

When the body is under ongoing stress, the nervous system can remain in a heightened state. Over time, this may influence how hormones are produced, signalled, and balanced.

Chronic stress may impact ⬇️

✧ Cortisol balance – the body’s main stress hormone may stay elevated, affecting energy and recovery.

✧ Sleep cycles – difficulty falling or staying asleep due to an overactive nervous system.

✧ Menstrual comfort – stress may contribute to cycle irregularities or increased discomfort.

✧ Mood and emotional regulation – changes in stress hormones can influence mood, irritability, and resilience.

When the body stays in a fight or flight state, it prioritises survival over balance. This can make it harder for hormones to regulate smoothly and for the body to feel at ease.

Supporting long term wellbeing means supporting the system behind it all. 🧠

Chiropractic care focuses on improving spinal mobility and reducing physical stress on the body, helping the nervous system function more efficiently. When the nervous system is better regulated, the body is more able to shift into a calmer state where rest, repair, and hormonal balance can occur.

Small, consistent changes in how we move, rest, and care for the body can create meaningful shifts over time. 🌈

Support your nervous system. Support your wellbeing 💙

It takes less than 10 seconds to notice the habits that may be quietly loading your spine each day.

Here are 5 quick posture checks:

🔹High Heels Check
✦ Wearing heels for long hours daily?
✦ Heels shift your centre of gravity forward, increase the lower back curve, tighten calves, and strain hips and spine.
♡ Alternate heel height during the week.
♡ Stretch calves after wearing heels.

🔹 Handbag Weight Check
✦ Always carrying your bag on one shoulder?
✦ An uneven load causes one shoulder to lift, building neck and upper back tension.
♡ Switch sides regularly or use a crossbody bag.

🔹 Carrying Kids on One Hip
✦ Holding your child on the same side every time?
✦ Pelvic tilt and side-bending strain can lead to lower back tightness.
♡ Alternate sides and gently engage your core before lifting.

🔹 Stress Posture Check
✦ Are your shoulders creeping toward your ears during busy days?
✦ Chronic upper trapezius tension can contribute to headaches and fatigue.
♡ Deep breath. Drop shoulders. Lengthen your spine.

🔹 Phone Scroll Before Bed
✦ Scrolling in bed with your neck bent forward?
✦ Neck strain and disrupted sleep signals can follow.
♡ Bring your phone to eye level or reduce screen time before sleep.

Small habits. Repeated daily. Big impact over time. 💙

If you’re noticing persistent tension or discomfort, it may be time for a posture and spinal check.

After our recent nutrition workshop, one theme stood out:

✨Energy isn’t just about what you eat.
It’s also about how your body stabilises.

Low energy is not always a fitness issue. Sometimes, it is a stability issue.

Your core is designed for endurance, providing subtle and sustained support throughout the day. When that endurance is lacking:

→ Posture begins to collapse
→ Surrounding muscles overcompensate
→ Neck and shoulders carry extra load
→ Fatigue builds faster than it should

The body becomes inefficient. You may not be unfit. You may simply be compensating.

As we discussed in the workshop, nutrition plays a powerful role here as well. 🥗

Without consistent fuel, adequate protein, balanced blood sugar, and proper hydration, muscles and stabilisers fatigue more quickly. When fuel is low, energy drops sooner and recovery slows.

🔁 This is where structure and nutrition intersect.

Chiropractic care supports spinal mobility and healthy nervous system function, helping your body coordinate stability more efficiently. When the spine moves well and the body is properly fuelled, energy becomes more sustainable.

If you’re still feeling that dip in energy, it may be time to take a closer look at both your stability and the support around you. 💙

19/03/2026

Women are masters of the "mental load," but your nervous system isn't designed to be "on" 24/7. When you're constantly juggling roles, your body enters a state of Allostatic Load — the physical wear and tear that happens when stress becomes your baseline.

This isn't just "feeling busy"; it’s a biological survival shift. Your Sympathetic Nervous System (the autonomic nervous system that triggers the "fight-or-flight" response) gets stuck down, which is why you might feel:

✦ Muscle Armor: Tension in your neck and shoulders as your body prepares for a threat.

✦ System Lag: Bloating or digestive changes because your body is deprioritizing rest and digest functions.

✦ Wired but Tired: Sleep stays light because your brain is scanning for the next task.
Chiropractic care isn't just about your back; it’s also about your brain. 🧠

By improving spinal mobility, we help dampen that high-alert signal, making it easier for your body to switch into a calm and resilient state. This is where your hormones balance, your muscles relax, and your energy recovers.

Stop just "pushing through”. It’s time to give your nervous system the reset it deserves.

Being a chiropractor means caring for others all day. But great care starts with taking care of yourself first.

This is a little glimpse into a day in the life of Dr Izzy. 💙

The day begins before sunrise with hydration, gentle movement, and a quiet moment of reflection. A few grounding rituals in the morning help create the energy needed to support a full day in practice.

From early adjustments to team meetings, patient care, reports, and evening sessions, the schedule is full. Yet small habits throughout the day help maintain balance and wellbeing.

As we celebrate Women’s Health this March, this is also a reminder that many women in healthcare, business, and leadership roles are balancing a lot behind the scenes. Taking care of your own health and energy is what makes it possible to show up for others. 🌈

A healthy routine creates the foundation for a healthy life.

And sometimes that routine simply starts with a glass of water, a stretch, and watching the sunrise.

Thank you, Dr Izzy .chiro , for sharing your day with us. 🌅
