Hello!

I’m well aware that I've been quiet on social media for quite some time now.

The past few years have been full and deeply personal. I have been walking a path through fertility challenges and loss. During this time I have chosen to direct my energy towards nurturing my own health and embracing the beautiful, meaningful work I’ve been doing here in Mparntwe/Alice Springs, rather than sharing online.

Since my last post, there have been countless incredible births, each one special and worthy of celebration. I had every intention of sharing them, but time slipped away, and now it feels a little too late to catch up.

With that said I’m finally ready to share that I am 23 weeks pregnant (for those who hadn’t spotted a belly yet!).

As I prepare for this new chapter, I will be scaling back my midwifery services from around August this year, for an unknown time at present. This means I won’t be providing antenatal, homebirth or postnatal care. I will still be offering placenta encapsulation, birth education, pool hire etc and will always be available for a cuppa and a conversation to support women in understanding their choices here in town.

I’m so grateful to be part of this wonderful community, and I’m looking forward to continuing to support and connect in new ways.

🎉This weekend we celebrated Sid’s 1st birthday🎉

Somehow we missed mentioning him in our posts when he was born, so we decided now would be a great time to do it!

This boy decided to stay inside, growing until just over 42 weeks. Alex trusted her babe to come when he was ready…Halloween! 🎃

Labour was intense, but Alex had prepared herself so well, both mentally and physically, and with Liam by her side, she powered through like the incredible woman she is!

Last week we also discharged Magnolia! Little Mags was our most petite Ochre baby yet 🥹

She made her intentions clear early on and wiggled Mum and Dad's birth preferences a little!! Rachel and Jesse navigated a stressful period so phenomenally and worked beautifully together to bring their baby girl earthside.

Watching these two blossom as parents and love this girl so incredibly much is one of the many reasons I have THE BEST ‘job’ in the world! 🥰🥰🥰

I said farewell to two beautiful babies this week 🥺

Graduation is always bittersweet for me. After spending so many hours over 10 months with these families, at 6 weeks postpartum they move into the next phase of their postpartum journey. It’s amazing to see how these families change and grow, but a little gap is left in my heart and also my diary! 🥹

Eddie’s incredible mother worked on facing her past birth trauma with absolute strength and resilience. She knew what she wanted, embraced the support of her team and faced her fears head-on. This ultimately forged the way for a beautiful and transformative birth.

Then this smiley, cheeky fella absolutely hit the ground running, with much help from big sis Poppy! What a start to life 💜

Welcome to the Ochre alumni Eddie! We just have to convince mum to have one more now! 😝

6 weeks since this incredible duo danced, swayed, sang, snuggled, laughed and cried together to bring their first baby earthside.

It was long, epically long, as are many first labours. Viv naturally worked with her body and baby and her prior preparation and resolute support from Séamus and Tama were key!

Their home was filled with the most beautiful, candle-lit, calm, warm and hypnotic energy!

She called all the shots when challenges arose and she couldn't be more proud to have advocated for herself with so much knowledge and power!

💫 Not sure where the time has gone, but it’s about time we honour this incredible Mum, bub and family! 💫

💜Angie was supported through her swift and intense labour by partner Dan, her Mum and her 2 year old daughter, with myself and friends arriving just minutes before his birth! 💜
