Let's talk about swallowing, it's something we all do on a very regular basis ....

Fun Facts: On average we swallow 500-700 times per day, around 3 times per hour while sleeping, and once per minute while awake. And of course even more often during meals.

Wednesday 18th March 2026 is Swallowing Awareness Day.

Sadly, the NDIS are disadvantaging and denying people the right to effective augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). They are doing this by making participants and allied health professionals provide ridiculous amounts of evidence in their justification of prescribed communication devices.

Below is a petition created by a speech pathologist calling on the NDIS to simplify the process in accessing AAC for people across all stages of life, by recognising that these high-tech communication supports are essential supports.

Please get behind this petition to help our most vulnerable have a voice, because "every word matters" (no matter how it is produced).

It’s Invisible Disabilities Week (19–25 October)! 🌻

Around 80–85% of people with a disability have one that isn’t visible. These include neurological, cognitive, sensory, mental health, and chronic conditions that aren’t always immediately apparent.

Not all disabilities are visible — but a little understanding and kindness can go a long way in making everyone feel seen and supported.
