Welcome to Dr José Penate

Dr José Penate is an experienced General Practitioner joining us on Monday and Tuesday, with a strong background in acute and Emergency Medicine. He is known for a calm, practical approach and enjoys managing presentations that require clear thinking, timely decision making, and procedural care.

José’s clinical interests centre on acute medicine, musculoskeletal and sports related conditions, and injury management. He has extensive experience working in rural Victoria, where his practice has shaped a broad and adaptable skill set, along with a strong appreciation for hands on, community-oriented medicine, where clarity, trust, and sound clinical judgement matter most.

He regularly assesses and treats joint and soft tissue pain, acute injuries, and functional movement problems, taking a thoughtful and structured approach to restoring function and confidence.

José also has an interest in men’s health and cardiovascular risk management, particularly for individuals seeking to remain active and well. His approach focuses on careful assessment, early identification of risk factors, and practical strategies that support long term health and functional independence.

He places high value on good communication, continuity of care, and collaborative decision making, with a professional and respectful style focused on outcomes that matter to patients.

Outside of work, José enjoys cycling, travel, and good coffee, and values high quality medicine that is both enjoyable and sustainable.

Kara is a clinical psychologist and board approved supervisor with over 12 years’ experience across diverse clinical, forensic and educational settings. Kara is passionate about creating a warm, non-judgmental space to foster healing, empowerment and long-term wellness for her clients. Her approach emphasizes down-to-earth, compassionate care and holistic wellbeing, allowing clients to feel genuinely seen and supported in alignment with their personal strengths, values, and goals.

Kara has expertise in addressing a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief/loss, self-esteem, adjustment and relationship issues. She also has a special interest in perinatal and postnatal mental health, offering a deep understanding of the unique complexities and challenges at all stages of this journey. Kara utilises an evidence-based, integrative treatment approach tailored to individual needs, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT), schema therapy and attachment-based therapy.
