Did you know that the microbiome plays a critical role in women's health and fertility, especially when it comes to endometriosis?

The microbiome is a delicate balance of good and bad bacteria that exists in our gut, and it's linked to our immune system, metabolism, and even our mental health. But did you know that your va**na, cervix and uterus has it's own microbiome too?

Research shows that people with endometriosis have a distinct microbiome profile compared to those without it, highlighting the importance of gut health, the microbiome and its impact on endometriosis.

By making small changes to nourish your microbiome such as consuming more fibre and fermented foods, you could boost your immune system and reduce inflammation. Both which is important for your endo symptoms and fertility. Clinically, we can also explore your va**nal microbiome and be really strategic about the way to improve your microbiome for your hormone/period health and fertility.

If you're interested to learn about your va**nal microbiome, how this might be impacting your and fertility then reach out for an appointment.

Are you're struggling with the grief of an IVF cycle that didn't go to plan?

I know you see me in consultations just like the first pic. Headphones on, smiling and if you don't know- often 3 kids in the background.

But, it wasn't always like that. I've also felt the deep pain of IVF cycles that didn't go to plan.

In the second pic, you probably see a mum, a dad and a little girl. I can see my first daughter and my husband as we were driving home from a delectable brunch on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

But what I also see is a woman who just a couple of hours before found out that her 2 frozen embryos hadn't survived the thaw. We travelled to Abu Dhabi from Tasmania with the expectation of trying for another baby with a frozen transfer cycle. We had the most wonderful time in the lead up, filled with positive anticipation and then sitting out for brunch I received a call from the embryologist- both embryos had died.

I can remember the gut wrenching pain, the tears, the disbelief, I can remember trying to enjoy brunch out with family and I can remember the blue dress. I could never wear it again because it reminded me of that moment. 💔

This week as a I sat in a consultation with a courageous woman who was also feeling pain from a cycle that didn't go to plan I remembered this moment.

So, if you're also struggling today know that I can relate and if you need me, I'm always right here. 🤍

Do you want to know what I see people find the hardest about IVF? 🤔

As a Fertility and IVF Naturopath (plus an IVF mum myself), one of the things that I see people find the hardest about IVF is the unpredictability and powerlessness they feel through a cycle. They have a wider range of emotions in 4 weeks then they can ever remember having before. 💔

And I can completely relate myself to this when I lived through my cycles too.

But do you want to know the simplest hack a new study has shown actually helps us cope?

It's information seeking. 💡

This coping strategy is actually called calibrated uncertainty. Its where we seek out lots of information and often involves seeking different levels and types of certainty at the same time, even if they seem contradictory.

And we don't just do it to fill a knowledge gap. We do it to regulate our emotions. That means we use it to help cope with the uncertainty and powerlessness we feel.

So, if you have questions about your treatment or are feeling overwhelmed, know that your coping, emotional regulation, and information-seeking are all intertwined.

Use this knowledge as your permission to ask the questions you want to know. Even if you feel like your contradicting yourself with the questions that your asking.

Looking back, do you think you've used information seeking as form of coping through your IVF?

Want to know how to create IVF success? ✨

And of course I mean to try and help optimise your chance of a pregnancy but also to try and help you cope mentally and emotionally too.

You see, I'd already been working as a Fertility Naturopath for 6 years before I went through my own IVF cycle and I thought I knew a lot. But it turns out, I didn't. There was still so much I didn't know. So now with 20 years of clinical experience, but having been through multiple stim and transfer cycles (and with 3 little girls by my side) I want to make sure you feel really ready for your IVF cycle.

Here are 6 essential tips to prepare yourself for the journey ahead:

✅Prepare your mind
✅Prepare your body
✅Know your options
✅Create your support network
✅Educate yourself
✅Prepare for time off work

Being told you have low AMH or a low ovarian reserve can make you feel completely helpless.

But AMH levels aren't the be-all and end-all when it comes to fertility. They're just one piece of the puzzle.

What I often see happen is that women are told their AMH level like it’s the test result that holds all the answers and that’s simply not true.

So, let’s debunk 3 myths that you must know about AMH if you’re trying to conceive, naturally or with IVF and learn about ways you can try to improve your AMH through lifestyle and naturopathy.

Myth #1- Low levels mean you can’t get pregnant
This is one of the biggest myths, that if you have low AMH that you can’t get pregnant. But while these levels might suggest your ovarian reserve is low they don’t tell us about the quality of eggs or your fertility potential.

Myth #2- High AMH levels mean it will be easy to get pregnant
On the flip side to myth #1, high AMH levels do not guarantee it will be easy to get pregnant. A high AMH might suggest there are lots of follicles on the ovaries but it doesn’t translate to better egg quality or a higher chance of a successful pregnancy.

Myth #3- Higher AMH levels mean good egg quality
As we’ve said above, higher AMH levels are generally associated with a higher number of follicles, this does not mean that they are going to be good quality eggs. In fact some studies have shown that women with higher AMH levels might have poorer quality eggs. For example, when AMH levels are above 70 pmol/L there is actually a reduced chance of conception because of an increase in inflammation and oxidisation to the ovaries which causes a decrease in the quality of the eggs.

I know exactly how it feels to hear that your body didn't do what it was supposed to. 💔

I know how it feels when you see your period when you were hoping for a positive pregnancy test.

I know how it feels to see a friend's beautiful pregnant belly after your IVF cycle didn't work out.

I know how easy it is to feel like a failure.

But you, as a person, aren't a failure because you're not pregnant.

You are not a failure because your body didn't respond to the protocol as you'd hoped.

You are not a failure because the embryo didn't implant.

It's easy for people to tell you that you're not defined by this, but I think it does define you.

It defines you as brave, as someone who keeps trying, as someone who loves and dreams and hopes. I think you're amazing! ✨

Is there one specific IVF diet?

No.

Should you be GF? No, not necessarily. Going gluten free isn't necessary for everyone, there are people that this is a 100% yes for and other people who based on symptoms, health factors and genetics might best to go gluten free for IVF. But there are also others that this isn't necessary at all.

Should you do ntermittent fasting to lose weight for iVF? No, not necessarily. Should you do intermittent fasting? Some people will do really well on IF and lose the weight that their Dr wants them to for IVF but for many people IF contributes to more hormone problems and stress too.

Should I not even worry about my diet because I am taking a prenatal. Definitely myth. This one is realy big, but its a definite no. Firstly your diet is a criticial piece and none of my most favourite prenatals will override the impact of a highly refined diet or lack of nutrition. But also, your prenatal itself needs to be checked over. Are the nutrients in the right forms, doses and right combinations?

Freedom is knowing on your next Day 1 that you feel ready and prepared for IVF to start.

You know you've prepared, you trust your body, you feel really ready and you know that either outcome of the cycle you're giving it all you can.

Can I be really honest with you?

As someone who has lived through fertility struggles and IVF plus somone who has helped hundreds and hundreds of other couples go through it, I don't ever want to give off a feeling that I had it all together through my own IVF cycle.

There were moments I loved and remember with so much joy and happiness, there are embarassing and silly moments that I remember with laughter and there are also painful, overwhelming moments I remember with some heaviness.

And I don't think any of that is wrong (or right!). It just is.

So while my goal is to make sure you feel ready to maximise your chance of your IVF cycle working AND to make sure you have the strategies to cope and enjoy parts of it, you will still have the waves of different emotions and feelings.

That's still a really healthy part of going through IVF, one of the biggest things you'll ever go through in your life. But I will make sure you know you're supported through all of it.

Do you want better quality eggs for IVF?

Current research tells us that infertile women have higher measurable BPA levels than fertile women.

It also tells us that if you're going through IVF and have higher levels of BPA that you're more likely to have problems with your cycle. Things like issues with eggs, your uterus, implantation and the hormone support of a pregnancy.

So what is BPA- it stands for Bisphenol A and it's an endocrine disrupting chemical- meaning it can have an impact on your hormone system.

It's been used for a long time in the manufacture of plastics, lining of food containers. Thankfully now, many brands will now advertise when they are BPA free so it can be easier to avoid it but we need to still be mindful of trying to avoid plastics because of other endocrine disrputers that might also be there.

To get started trying to reduce your possible exposure at a minimum look for the BPA free sign on your containers or store bought foods and don't microwave in plastic but ideally- gradually change your food storage containers to glass or stainless steel, change over from a plastic water bottle and try to eat whole foods that don't come from lined tins, packets etc

If you want to know what else you can do try and improve the quality of your eggs for your next IVF cycle then head to the link in my bio or www.

Want to know one of my favourite tricks for sleep?

A hot cacao.

I take 1 heaped dessertspoon of cacao, 400mls of coconut milk, and then put it in the thermomix for 6 mins, 90 degrees, sp 4.

This drink is rich in magnesium which is great to help relax for sleep + it tastes delicious. ☕

Our Story

Hi! I’m Jaclyn!

I love supporting women through fertility, pregnancy and motherhood. As a Naturopath, Women’s Health and Natural Fertility Expert I help women to create the positive pregnancy, baby and life/health that the dream of.

I love to inspire women to make informed choices through their fertility, pregnancy and then motherhood journey. What I am really passionate about is transforming a generation of women who continue to make conscious choices for their own health and happiness through each of these stages of their life.

I too have been through fertility and IVF struggles, I’ve had up’s and down’s and I’ve now lovingly created my little (and slightly chaotic) family. I am like your own personal world explorer in the world of Fertility. I know exactly where you want to be and I have already taken the journey to your desired destination, I’ve worked out the smoothest and easiest ways to get there- the things to be aware of and the areas to make sure you cover. I help to provide the tools, guidance and knowledge of a professional, along with insights, experience and understanding from passionately taking the journey myself. I really want to help you get there too!
