And now for something completely different, BIG W is having a toy sale.

Is there something there your little one would love if it had switch access?

**This Bluey is now accounted for and of to her new home... but, if you would still like your own Bluey, or another switch adapted toy, please get in touch and we can discuss options. **

Bluey's got BUM WORMS!!

Wait, that's just her Adaption cord.
Plug her in and your child can dance and sing along, even play that annoying game of Copy Cat with the world's favourite Blue Heeler.

Available now and if you're quick she'll make her flight before the Christmas rush.

Only $150 + $18.11 postage. To save on postage costs i will only send her in the original box if specifically requested, this will incur a large postage fee.

October is AAC Awareness month.

What is it? Augmentative and Alternate Communication systems are simply a tool to allow a user to communicate clearly when their voice isn't as much of an option.
They can be High Tech, such as a device that contains a full vocabulary. It they can be Low Tech like a PODD book or a talking switch that gives limited options.

AAC use is NOT a sign of intellectual impairment.

It was an absolute delight to once again volunteer at Motormouth Camp 2 this past weekend at The Lea.

Families from right across the state were able to get a weekend of training and exposure on Alternate and Assignments Communication systems with dozens of Gurus, Therapists and assorted others available to work with the whole family.

I not only walked away with warm fuzzy feelings but also useful lessons I can take back to my work as a TA with children with extra needs and my life as a father of a child with Trisomy 15.

FAQ 3.

Q- Can you adapt this appliance?

A- No, I won't touch 240v because it's not safe for anyone involved. But I am working on a solution.

FAQ 2
Q- Can you adapt.... this?

A- Maybe. So far only one toy have made it to my black list that I refuse to ever touch again. Apart from that I'm prepared to get creative and make it happen.

Get in touch today and we can discuss Wallace and Gromit ideas for your child.

FAQ 1.
Q- What have you got i can buy?

A- Keep an eye on the shop page as I'll occasionally put stuff up if I see it on special or if I've been playing around too see if it can be done.
My preferred way to work is to talk to you to find out what your child's favourite toys are and adapt something especially for them. Something that's going to be of interest to them and sit the level they are at.

A quick refresher on what Switched-On is all about....

Inclusive Play.

I'm all about taking a toy from the shelf that your little one's peers play with and making it able to be played with by anyone, whether they need Assistive Technology or not.

Besides basic Switch Adaptions other jobs i have done include...
- Creation of a "Play Centre" that gives the child the option of 3 different toys set up on a single station.

- Changing wooden puzzles over from small pincer grip handles to larger drawer handles.

- Switch Adaption of a CD player.

- Switch Adapting a large scale train set that included a complete redesign of the controller.

If you have questions, thoughts, ideas, feel free to get in touch to discuss.
