Meet our experienced Physiotherapist Jacob! ✨

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?
I became a physio because I grew up playing sports. Unfortunately, I was the one that was regularly injured (and having to come into the physio clinic). I found rehabbing my own injuries very interesting and have developed a passion for doing the same for my patients. I’ve had a shoulder reconstruction and 3x ACL reconstructions, so I know what it’s like to be on the other side. 🏈🩼

Any special clinical interests?
ACL/knee rehab, sporting injuries, running related injuries. 🏃

Special skill/trick/interesting fact?
I’ve got a mean basketball spin and I have a fun fact about everything. 🏀

Fitness goal for 2025?
Get an in-game dunk in basketball. ⛹️

Holiday of choice?
Anywhere weird and historical, but also snowboarding. 🏂

Favourite food and drink?
I’m currently developing a list of the best pies in Aus. Blue Powerade or a great coffee. ☕️ 🥧

This week we are highlighting National Pain Week!
Chronic pain is complex and rarely solved by medication or medical procedures alone. Allied health professionals play a critical role in the multidisciplinary management of pain, for example:

Physiotherapists: Help with movement retraining, graded exercise, pacing, and gentle strengthening to reduce fear of movement and improve function.

Dietitians: Assist with nutrition to reduce inflammation, support general health, and manage weight if relevant to joint or musculoskeletal pain.

Exercise Physiologists: Develop safe exercise programs tailored to individuals with persistent pain.

Podiatrists: Manage foot and gait issues that contribute to chronic pain.

Meet our passionate Physiotherapist Ray! ✨

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?
Growing up I loved sports and science and physiotherapy was the perfect way for me to combine both. 🏀🧬

Any special clinical interests?
I particularly enjoy treating chronic neck and low back pain along with headaches/migraines. 🧠

Special skill/trick/interesting fact?
Back in Canada, I worked as an athletic trainer for a high-level lacrosse club where we won 2 national championships. 🇨🇦🏅

Fitness goal for 2025?
I am aiming to regain my consistency with the gym and get back to 4-5x a week training. 🏋️

Holiday of choice?
Japan! The culture and the food is absolutely amazing! 🇯🇵🍱

Favourite food and drink?
I would have to go with a nice steak and tall glass of red wine! 🥩🍷

Meet our wonderful Remedial Message Therapist Nariel! 💆‍♀️🧘‍♀️

Before graduating, I spent a year working in a spa in my hometown, Florianópolis, Brazil, where I discovered the power of therapeutic touch and the importance of the therapist-client connection. Early in my physiotherapy studies, I fell in love with manual therapy and palpatory anatomy, fascinated by how massage can quickly relieve muscular pain.

Around that time, I also discovered yoga, which brought balance to my life. In 2021, I completed an 8-month Hatha Yoga teacher training and taught for a year at a Hot Yoga studio—a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of flexibility and mobility.

After graduating, I worked briefly in orthopaedic clinics before moving into neurology, caring for elderly patients with Parkinson’s disease. It was a profoundly meaningful role that gave me insight into the challenges faced by patients and their families living with palliative conditions.

Clinical interests -
I’m particularly interested in helping clients with chronic pain. My approach focuses on understanding each person’s daily routine and unique challenges, exploring how these factors affect the body as a whole.

Fitness Goal for 2025 - 🧘‍♀️
I aim to return to a regular yoga and morning meditation routine, as I believe physical activity is the best medicine.

Holiday of Choice - 🇮🇹
My dream trip would be to southern Italy to enjoy its culture, scenery, and cuisine. In the meantime, I’d love to visit Brazil and see my family again.

August is Tradies National Health Month and with Australia facing a trade shortage and housing crisis, making the health and wellbeing of our tradies is more critical than ever!

How Physiotherapy can help Tradies:

👉 Prevent injuries: Physiotherapists teach techniques to work safely and avoid common injuries.

👉 Early intervention: Addressing pain early helps prevent chronic issues and long-term complications.

👉 Enhance quality of life: By managing pain effectively, physiotherapy enables tradies to maintain their productivity and enjoy their daily activities.

👉 Adapt with age: Physiotherapists help tradies adjust their work habits as their bodies age, reducing the risk of injury and prolonging their careers.

So, now’s the time to invest in tradies’ health whether you know one, love one or are one.

Book an appointment with one of our physios on our website (link in bio) or call us on 3269 0114.
