‘We have a tendency to think in terms of doing and not in terms of being. We think that when we are not doing anything, we are wasting our time. But that is not true. Our time is first of all for us to be. To be what? To be alive, to be peaceful, to be joyful, to be loving. And that is what the world needs most’. ~Thich Nhat Hanh

I’ve recently returned from a trip to my home and ancestors.

It was such a healing trip. There’s been more than a few losses of late. I know this is life continuing to meet me and that’s ok as long as it’s navigated in a wholesome, loving way.

I have renewed energy and I’m prioriting wellness, peace, fun and joy.

Aren’t they the ‘natural’ ingredients of life?

I read this today and it invited a sense of ‘yep, being a human and navigating the waves’ thinking in me.

Hope today is calm enough 💜

"Life is amazing.
And then it's awful.
And then it's amazing again.
And in between the amazing and awful it's ordinary and mundane and routine.
Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary.
That's just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life.
And it's breathtakingly beautiful."

Check out the vibrancy and intricacies in this native flower.

As humans I believe we all have our own brand of vibrancy and unique intricacies too.

How do we reach, recognise and embrace to really nurture and hold up these parts of the self.

The days challenges can invite doubt all too easily.

Take a look at your self and all the magic of you 💫

I’ve seen this idea of the ice berg before.

It’s helpful to my thinking about big emotions as it helps me to recognise all the flavours that sit under a powerful feeling.

I believe anger is just like any other emotion.

Anger has gotten bad name over the years. I don’t agree that it needs to be bad!

Anger can also be an emotion that can really assist us, where possible, to take a deeper look at what’s actually going on.

Like a sign to be seen and direct me but it comes as a bigger feeling.

I often like to just pause or give myself some space if I feel angry.

I might go for a walk in nature.
Hitting my feet more purposely to the ground with each step helps to ground my body and loosen the mind if unhelpful thoughts are there.
I breathe into my tummy like blowing into a balloon snd let it out slowly with a sigh.
I might write down what I’m thinking to acknowledge the mind and let it be.

When I’m clearer on what’s going on I can better manage it, make sense of it…and talk about it.

As long as anger is a healthy and not harmful response I can be accepting and ever curious about this emotion.

What helps you?

Walking this morning was a real treat:
I noticed
The early morning sun on my face and body

How strong my body felt as it took strides on the ground

How the trees were all the various shades of green imaginable

How the bird song sounded sweeter out amongst it all rather than listening in my bed

How my breath felt panting up hill in my heart and chest

How much more relaxed I was walking more easily back towards home.

Choosing thoughts like we’re choosing clothes.
Wouldn’t this be amazing…I think it’s possible too.

Building awareness around what are thoughts are showing us can be challenging.

How are you more consciously aware of your thoughts?
In meditation?
As you walk?
Talk or
Write

Building awareness is a practice that often comes before choosing or dropping any thinking that might be unhelpful ❤️
