“The Families of Killenkere Mullagh Parish 1641- 1901 and surrounding Parishes and Townlands in Co. Cavan and Co. Meath”
To all my Gilshenan cousins and fellow researchers,
For more than thirty years, my family research has often raised more questions than answers. Even after publishing Madden Connections and two eBooks on the Maddens and Gilshenans of Ireland, I was still uncertain how the families I had traced connected to my own ancestry. DNA testing revealed many links, yet interpreting 3rd–5th cousin relationships remained complex.
I needed another stepping stone to see those connections, hence Knowing where my ancestors lived suggested another path: studying which families lived in each township. This Ebook resource is underscored by the understanding of our ancestors survived by sticking close to friends and family from the same town, parish or county - people who spoke their language, shared their Faith and who paved the way before them and even followed them to other countries in the new world.
My family names—Gilshenan and Farrelly—are tied to Counties Cavan and Meath, especially the townland Mullagh. This led me to compile these collated family records of Killenkere Mullagh Civil Parish and surrounds as a resource not just for myself but for other researchers...I hope this resource helps fellow Killenkere Mullagh and surrounding civil parishes researchers in their quest for family connections.
