This is painful, but this is working. Each time it comes in, it brings your baby down to you.

You can’t escape it, you have to welcome it. Surrender to it letting your body work with your baby, & roar it out. You already know how, it’s deep within you. Trust in your body.

It’s pain, but with purpose. 💚

👋🏼 hello,

I wanted to share with you a little bit about the work I do & what I always aim for with each of my clients.

My job is to support whatever you are driving towards in pregnancy, birth & postpartum. As your doula I am adaptive to your needs in an open & non-judgemental way. I always offer an open safe space to talk through as much or as little you like. Everything from fear, concerns, tough stuff, the wins, all the good & just life.

I hope each visit feels like chatting with a friend who gets it & leaves you feeling lighter than before after a few laughs together (It doesn’t have to be all serious).

So that’s a bit about me, Tamara the doula. 💚

Fear of birth creates tension within your body promoting adrenaline. When your body is feeling tense, the pain you feel is amplified & then confirms the initial fears you had. This will then fuel the fear pain tension cycle as each contraction comes, keeping you trapped in this unhelpful cycle for birth in fight of flight fighting the process.

Prior understanding of birth, working through your fears will help to lessen that fear. Instead we can focus on ways to help relax your mind & body with each wave. Using massage, movement, visualisation, water or breath we can create more relaxation to surrender into ourselves. When we do these things we not only can manage the pain better, but also eliminate the tension we might hold. Using relaxation techniques, we can allow in oxytocin, only helping your body in the best way to progress through labour.

🥹 All the feels reading this.

To my doula Tamara, thank you. You were everything I imagined, and so much more. There are no words to describe how magical you are. I have always known you to have the most incredible energy and have personally always been drawn to you. So please know it was an absolute honour to have your support throughout the pregnancy and of course throughout the labour, and postpartum. The power of your presence alone was enough for me to feel empowered, strong, and determined to stay in a positive mindset throughout the pregnancy and of course throughout the labour. You kept me grounded, and provided me the physical and psychological support I needed to overcome those moments in pregnancy and labour where I felt vulnerable, disappointed, lost, and afraid. You brought so much into the room, not only for David and I, but for the medical team as well. You created a positive environment and experience for everyone. I know for a fact that the medical staff were blown away by you and I hope that you all get the opportunity to work together again. With you, Naomi, and of course our Ying, I could not have asked for a more beautiful birth. Although our birth plan changed, you still had prepared me for every scenario possible. You prepared me, and you kept me informed throughout. You reassured me how strong I was, and that despite having an emergency c-section, I had not failed and was doing what was necessary. It’s really difficult to find the words to describe the significant impact you have had on us. You are such a beautiful person, and with that you bring so much knowledge and skill. I am so proud of what we overcame together - I cant imagine what this experience would have been like without you by our side. Because of you, I got a positive birth experience. Because of you, I have a beautiful birth story that I of course will share to encourage other women. You are forever admired, and appreciated. You are going to have a beautiful impact on so many women and families Tamara - it was incredible to see you in your element, doing the work you are so destined to do. We love you. Thank you for taking my family and I on as a client.
