Mater invites GPs to join a webinar on the Queensland eConsultant program on 15 October from 6:00–6:45 p.m. (AEST, Brisbane time). The eConsultant program is a free ‘request for advice’ service to support GPs seeking specialist advice in endocrinology, cardiology, dermatology, nephrology, haematology, respiratory and sleep, neurology, and obstetric medicine.

Hear from GP program lead Prof Claire Jackson, QLD eConsultant endocrinologist Emeritus Prof David McIntyre, and GPs Dr Tim O'Brien and Dr Karen Love as they discuss the eConsultant service and demonstrate the new Consultmed platform.

Are you interested in shaping the next generation of rural GPs and rural generalists?

An interest in rural or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health?

The RACGP are building a pool of remote supervisors in Queensland to support general practice training in rural communities. Responsibilities would include supervising registrars remotely via phone, video and email, with a few face-to-face catchups during the training semester.

By becoming a remote supervisor, you will help provide high-quality training where it’s needed most.

🚗🌾 From Roma to St George — and now Charleville!

In just a few weeks (10 to 12 Oct), 17 health students from our GROW Rural South West Queensland program will be immersing themselves in rural healthcare, connecting with community, and building the future rural health workforce.

From working with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, to deep listening with Indigenous Elders, and supporting Get Ready Murweh, this final immersion is all about communication, collaboration, and connection.

The Emergency Paediatrics Workshop being held in Brisbane on the 8-9 November is at capacity—but you can still join the waitlist.

This hands-on workshop will be led by two incredible facilitators:

👩‍⚕️ Dr Kate Bassett – Paediatric Emergency Specialist at The Prince Charles Hospital, educator, and convenor of the QLD Paediatric Fellowship Program.

👩‍⚕️ Dr Francesca Arcidiacono – Senior Staff Specialist Paediatrician at The Prince Charles Hospital and Advanced Paediatric Life Support instructor.

Together, they’ll deliver practical, high-impact training designed to give rural doctors confidence in paediatric emergencies.

The 2025 Health Workforce Stakeholder Group (HWSG) Meeting brought together 36 key organisations, including new members Ahpra and AIPP, to explore how we can collectively strengthen primary health care sustainability in remote and rural Queensland.

This year’s topic was 'Enablers of the sustainability of primary care in Queensland’s remote and rural communities'.
