🖤💛❤️ National Close the Gap Day: Our Commitment 🖤💛❤️
On this National Close the Gap Day, Health Workforce Queensland reaffirms our ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are proud to take meaningful, practical steps toward lasting change:
🫶 Strengthening partnerships by researching and applying best-practice principles and deepening our working relationships with key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations.
🫶 Investing in cultural learning - our team participated in a two-hour workshop led by Cultural Advisor Randall Ross. Thank you to Randall and North and West Remote Health for generously sharing your knowledge and time.
🫶 Expanding access to culturally responsive care, with the recent placement of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander psychologist and osteopath in Nanango and Kingaroy.
🫶 Strengthening cultural leadership within our organisation - our Cultural Advisor, Dani Beezley, now provides mentorship to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, and our Cultural Champion provides a safe and supportive space for cultural discussions across the organisation.
We recognise that closing the gap requires sustained action, strong partnerships, and continued learning, and we remain committed to walking this path together.
