1. Keep your feet and hands clean and dry: Fungi thrive in warm and moist environments, so make sure to keep your nails clean and dry at all times.

2. Use an anti-fungal treatment: There are numerous over-the-counter anti-fungal treatments available, such as creams, gels, and nail polishes. Follow the instructions carefully and use them consistently.

3. Trim your nails regularly: Keeping your nails short can help prevent the fungus from spreading further.

4. Avoid sharing personal items: Fungal infections can easily spread from person to person, so avoid sharing shoes, socks, towels, and other personal items.

5. Wear breathable shoes and socks: Opt for breathable materials such as cotton or wool, and avoid wearing tight-fitting shoes that can trap moisture.

6. Disinfect your nail tools: If you regularly get manicures or pedicures, make sure your nail tools are properly cleaned and disinfected to avoid spreading the infection.

7. Consider natural remedies: Some natural remedies, such as tea tree oil, coconut oil, and apple cider vinegar, have antifungal properties and may help get rid of the infection.

8. Be patient: Fungal nail infections can take several months to fully clear up, so be patient and continue with your treatment until the infection is completely gone.

Are High Heels Wreaking Havoc on Your Feet? High heels distribute your weight improperly, increasing the load on your forefoot by as much as 75%. In addition to causing foot pain, this odd weight distribution can create issues in your knees, ankles, hips, and lower back. Heels also can cause ingrown toenails and contribute to the development of bunions and hammertoes. In extreme cases, heels can cause tiny stress fractures, which eventually lead to arthritis.

It can be very painful to tear or rip your nail from the nail bed. A nail may separate from the nail bed (detach) for many reasons, including: Injuries, (the nail may pry away from the nail bed when it is hit or jammed), severe or repetitive toe stubbing, fungal nail infection, (which occurs when fungi invade a toenail and the skin underneath the nail), skin conditions, (such as psoriasis), chemicals, (such as acrylic-based gel polishes), medicines, (such as chemotherapy or antibiotics), or severe illnesses. After a nail separates from the nail bed for whatever reason, it will not reattach. A new nail will have to grow back in its place.
