I’ve recently welcomed a beautiful new sand tray from Works at play into my practice. I am so excited.

Sand tray play allows children (and adults!) to express themselves in a safe, creative, and symbolic way. By integrating sand tray work into therapy, I can see how much more depth and richness the sessions gain.

This particular tray is handmade, high quality, and thoughtfully designed – a joy to use and a wonderful tool to support emotional expression, processing, and healing.

🌿 Grateful to bring this into my practice and excited to see where the sand takes us.

After I heard Bill Shorten’s Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) radio interview, talking about the NDIA’s decision to exclude art therapy as an evidence-based, capacity-building therapeutic support in the NDIS I felt an overwhelming desire to invite Bill to experience a therapeutic art th...

In a recent art therapy session I rediscovered the power of nature and the power of symbols created by my client.

In this enriching Art Therapy Session we explored the intricate parallels between creativity and the natural world! 🌿🖌️

We delved into the captivating world of crabs and unraveled the profound lessons they impart. 🦀 Through the lens of art, we'll explore resilience, adaptability, and the beauty of transformation - all inspired by the wisdom of crabs.

You don't have to be artist to create! You just need to be simply curious about the therapeutic power of creativity, art therapy is open to all! 🌟 Come join me and unlock the hidden treasures of art therapy.

Interoception awareness is something I’ve recently learned about. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, it is considered the “eighth sense” dealing with the internal state of the body. Research suggests it’s related to a condition many of us autistics also have, alexithymia (difficulty with identifying and describing feelings).

Interoception explains so much about my life! It explains how I can easily forget to eat or drink water, I feel pain at a very intense level, or I don’t notice when my heart rate skyrockets.

I am glad I am finally learning more about my body so I can take better care of myself. Do you have issues with interoception awareness? If so, how have you learned to improve your awareness? What coping mechanisms have you found useful?
