🚩Red Flags for underactive thyroid function (that I see all too often).

Thyroid issues can go undetected for months, or even years. Here are some red flags that make me suspect low thyroid function may be playing a role:

💤 Persistent fatigue or exhaustion: Even after a full night’s sleep, you still wake feeling flat and drained.

🌫️ Brain fog: finding it hard to focus, think clearly, or remember things like you used to.

⚖️ Unexplained weight gain: You’re eating well and moving your body, but the scales just won’t budge.

💇‍♀️ Hair loss, brittle or dry hair and skin: hair and skin feel dull, dry, or lacklustre.

👁️ Thinning outer 1/3 of your eyebrows: A subtle sign that’s often overlooked.

😔 Mood changes: feeling low, anxious, or emotionally flat without a clear reason.

💩 Constipation: your digestion feels sluggish and bowel movements have become less frequent.

🩸 Irregular or heavy periods: menstrual cycle can feel unpredictable or heavier than usual.

💪 Muscle aches or cramps: experiencing soreness or stiffness even without intense exercise.

🤰 Fertility issues: Struggling to conceive or maintain a healthy cycle despite doing “everything right.”

❤️ Low libido: your interest in intimacy has dropped, and energy for connection feels low.

If several of these sound familiar, it might be worth taking a closer look at your thyroid health. Often, these symptoms are your body’s quiet way of saying something’s not right. Bear in mind these are general symptoms that can come from many causes so it’s always best to consult with a practitioner or doctor to help to look at why you might be experiencing these.

🍋 Vitamin C & The Stress Response..

Your adrenal glands use large amounts of Vitamin C to produce stress hormones like cortisol and to protect themselves from oxidative damage during times of stress. 💥

🍊Adequate Vitamin C supports healthier stress responses, steadier energy, and faster recovery.

You can get Vitamin C from foods like:

🥦 Broccoli
🍊 Citrus fruits
🥝 Kiwi fruit
🫑 Capsicum
🍓 Berries, Guava, Papaya
🍅 Tomato
🖤 Blackcurrants

But there are also many more to choose from! Aim for a variety of fresh fruit and veg each week to top up on this essential vitamin and keep your adrenals nourished.

Hippocrates, often referred to as the father of medicine, believed that nature itself holds the power to heal. His words remind us that true wellness begins by working with nature itself, the foundation of naturopathic approach.

Working with nature looks like - whole foods, herbal medicine, rest and a balanced lifestyle to gently restore the body’s natural equilibrium.

✨Hormone Harmony Nourish Bowl ✨

When it comes to supporting your thyroid, hormones, and overall wellbeing, food can make such a difference. This colourful bowl isn’t just delicious, it’s designed to be deeply nourishing for your body, energy, and cycle health.

🌿 Why it’s helpful:

Anti-inflammatory veggies (like sweet potato, capsicum, broccoli, zucchini, and spinach) help reduce inflammation, a key driver behind many hormone and thyroid imbalances.

Healthy fats from tahini and olive oil support hormone production and keep your skin glowing.

Protein (think salmon, chicken, tofu or tempeh) balances blood sugar and keeps your energy steady through the day.

Selenium-rich pumpkin seeds are a thyroid superstar, helping your body get the most out of your thyroid hormones.

Fibre & antioxidants support gut health and natural detox pathways, which are essential for hormone balance.

This bowl is a beautiful option whether you’re looking after your thyroid, working on fertility, easing PMS, navigating PCOS, supporting your cycle, or moving through menopause. It’s also just a nourishing, everyday way to fuel your body with what it truly needs.

💛 Easy, vibrant, and balanced. A perfect meal to remind yourself that caring for your health doesn’t have to be complicated.

Why Rocket is a Gut Health Hero 🌿

Don’t underestimate this peppery little green! Rocket (also known as arugula) is rich in bitter compounds that help stimulate digestive enzymes and bile flow, making it a valuable natural support for better digestion, less bloating, and better nutrient absorption.

How to enjoy it daily:

✨Use a big handful along with lemon juice and olive oil as an entree to really get your stomach ready for the food to come

✨Toss it into salads for a digestive boost

✨Layer it into wraps or sandwiches

✨Blend a handful into smoothies with lemon & cucumber

✨Add to pasta, scrambled egg, omelette, or poke bowls after cooking for a fresh, zesty finish

Sometimes the simplest foods are the most powerful 🌱

The 3 Pillars of a healthy pregnancy

1. Eat a Healthy Diet - consuming nutritious foods like those rich in iodine, folate, iron, protein, calcium, and vitamins D and B12.

2. Stay active
Regular exercise that is appropriate for you and your body helps improve blood flow to the tissues, and prepares your body for labour and recovery. Low impact exercise can include swimming, yoga, and walking.

3. Seek support
Reach out to family, friends or healthcare professionals for emotional, practical or medical support.

These 3 pillars are the simple basics to a healthy pregnancy and baby. Reach out for a consultation to cover off the unique requirements for your specific stage of pregnancy, tailored to your personal health needs.

Did you know that just 1-2 Brazil nuts a day can give your thyroid the selenium boost it needs to function at its best?

Selenium is a powerful antioxidant that plays a key role in converting thyroid hormone into its active form, calming inflammation and supporting immune balance.

Many clients I see are unknowingly low in selenium, which can make symptoms like fatigue, sluggish metabolism and brain fog worse.

How to add them - If you tolerate nuts try:

⭐️ 1-2 nuts as a morning snack
⭐️ blended into smoothies or added to oats, chia pudding, or over breakfast
⭐️ blended into homemade nut milk or energy balls

If you’re navigating under active thyroid or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, tailored nutrition (including key nutrients like selenium) can be a game changer. Let’s take the guesswork out together.

🔥Feeling Burn with your Bump? When pregnancy reflux strikes, here’s how to tackle it naturally ⬇️

🤰If you’re pregnant and dealing with reflux or heartburn know that you’re not alone. Reflux during pregnancy can be common but it doesn’t mean you have to grin and bear it. Your body’s going through a lot of changes, and reflux often signals that your digestion, hormones, or even stress levels need some extra support.

Simple steps you can start with first:

✨ Sip on warm ginger tea to calm digestion (best away from meals)

✨ Eat smaller meals more often (your growing baby leaves less room!)

✨ Elevate your head while sleeping

✨ Chew slowly and mindfully

✨ Take some deep breaths before eating to calm the nervous system aid digestion

👋But if they are not enough, there is a lot more a Pregnancy Naturopath and Nutritionist can offer you for support. When we are working with reflux, we don’t just treat the symptoms, we address WHY the reflux is happening in the first place. Whether that’s hormonal shifts, digestive imbalance, lifestyle or dietary factors, by supporting the root cause, we’ll help you manage the symptoms and work to keep them gone.

Remember, Pregnancy doesn’t have to come with a side of heartburn. There are natural, gentle ways to feel comfortable and at ease.
