🙋STRUGGLING TO FALL PREGNANT? It might be time to check in on your Thyroid 🦋

Your thyroid might be a small gland, but it has massive influence when it comes to fertility.

Whether it’s underactive (hypothyroidism) or overactive (hyperthyroidism), thyroid imbalance can interfere with nearly every stage of the reproductive process and often goes unnoticed for years.

Thyroid dysfunction can affect both male and female fertility partners:

🔄 Ovulation Disruption:
Low thyroid hormones can prevent the release of an egg each month, leading to irregular or missed cycles. No ovulation means no opportunity for conception.

🧬 Luteal Phase Defect:
A poorly functioning thyroid can lead to a shortened second half of your cycle, making it harder for a fertilised egg to implant and stay implanted.

🔻 Low Progesterone Levels:
Thyroid dysfunction could suppress progesterone, a hormone crucial for maintaining early pregnancy. Low levels increase the risk of early miscarriage.

💔 Increased Miscarriage Risk:
Even subclinical (mild) hypothyroidism where blood tests seem “normal” but symptoms are present may be associated with higher rates of miscarriage.

🔄 Autoimmune Thyroid (Hashimoto’s):
Autoimmunity can not only impair thyroid function, but also increase inflammation and interfere with embryo implantation.

🙋‍♂️Male Factor Infertility - thyroid imbalances can affect men too. Reduced s***m quality, lower libido and hormone imbalances can be some of the areas affected.
