✨Leg —> (STASIS/ VENOUS ECZEMA), most often seen in elderly patients with poor circulation!!
✨This case complicated by skin infection with an element of dermatitis from improper skin & wound care.
✨A skin cancer was also hiding underneath all these layers of dry infected skin, diagnosed after proper medical management of the dermatitis!

✨Take home message not every skin rash you rub steroid on it ! These spots are flat Warts.
✨typically multiple small flat-topped spots. Usually seen in kids, but adults can get them as well (this lady caught it from her school age daughter), topical steroids simply will spread the virus with more spots.

✨Congrats Yolanka getting this published on the Australian Journal of General practice 👏🏼👏🏼
✨ It is important that GPs maintain a high index of suspicion for when encountering patients presenting with flexural rash.

✨ This patient is lucky as I spotted this on his arm while looking elsewhere at an itchy skin rash, decided to biopsy on the day, confirmed an early melanoma , which I excised few weeks later 👍🏼

✨Well our winter been very COLD here in Brisbane 🥶 ❄️ seeing cases of this almost every week!! ( not used to this) 😅
✨ This is Chilblains ( ) where you get sore or itchy bumps on your toes or finger tips
✨ It’s linked with cold/ damp weather. However, can be linked to underlying autoimmune diseases, smoking or blood malignancies.
✨ chilblain-like lesions has been also reported with infection ( ) 🙄 yep we have another winter wave of this!!
✨Derms usually organise tests to rule out underlying cause.
✨Managed well by minimising cold/ wet environments, drying skin between toes, avoid smoking if any & staying active to improve circulation. Prescription creams or tablets may be needed for some patients to reduce itch or control sores.

✨ Actinic keratosis (AK) is a premalignant lesion arising from chronic ultraviolet exposure.
✨It appears as small erythematous, scaly spots on sun-exposed areas. AK indicates chronic sun damage and increased risk of skin cancer.
✨The estimated risk of malignant transformation to squamous cell carcinoma is 1-10% over a 10-year period.
✨treatment of AK is to reduce the risk of malignant transformation. A wide range of treatment modalities are available such as topical creams, cryotherapy, curettage, surgical excision, chemical peels, photodynamic therapy (PDT),
and most recently, laser and energy-based devices.
✨ Treatment choice is guided by disease severity, body site, patient preference, comorbidities, previous treatments, cost and side effects of the treatment.
✨Shout out to dr Alvin lim & on this published on the latest edition of the .org.au journal, we provide an up-to-date review of the laser and energy-based treatment modalities used to treat AK and
actinic cheilitis.

✨Acne excorie (acné excoriée) is the term used to describe scratched or picked .
✨Patients have a repetitive, and uncontrollable desire to pick, scratch, or rub their spots. Excoriation disorders are a distinct entity within the group of Obsessive-Compulsive ( ) and Related Disorders.
✨Picked acne spots may become infected which then leads to permanent
✨ Combination of MEDICAL (wound care/acne management) and PSYCHIATRIC treatment (focused on the OCD component of illness) is usually required especially in severe cases

✨Melanoma a nasty skin cancer HOWEVER can be effectively treated in its early stages when still confined to the top layers of the skin.
✨ Unprotected UV exposure, Childhood sunburns and Tanning are the leading causes of this!! Unfortunately, Melanoma is projected to be the third most common cancer diagnosed in Australia 🇦🇺 & we have world's highest incidence rates for melanoma ❌❌❌
✨Prevention is the key!! so make sure you Slip on a shirt, Slop on sunscreen & Slap on a hat & Seek shade when outdoor ☀️☀️
✨ Keep an eye on your skin for anything growing, changing, bleeding or looks funny in anyway
✨See your Dermatologist for any concerns and for regular skin checks

✨ Female pattern hair loss ( FPHL)aka androgenetic alopecia, mainly seen post menopause !! Likely a genetic tendency underlying.
✨While Men go bald 👩‍🦲(MPHL) (luckily) females get hair thinning at their crown 👑, wide hair parts or overall excess hair shedding!
✨First I like to rule out underlying causes of hair shedding (such as nutritional deficiencies) or hormonal abnormalities (especially if FPHL in young age lady)
✨ Although NO CURE for MPHL/FPHL, there are options to control it with topical products or tablets. realistic expectaions are very important to discuss with every patient !!
👆🏼In this lovely lady I used a combination of oral tablets and PRP injections, before and afters spaced 10 months apart
