Reconnecting Back to your Authentic self as a Midlife Woman.

Today was an incredible episode and I loved the conversation I had with Melissa Welch who is an Authenticity Facilitator working with women to help reveal and remove the misconceptions you have about yourself to free you to be the woman that you came here to be.

We discussed what it means to be your Authentic Self and ways in which you can find your own way and step into your own love and joy of being who you truly are meant to be.

Mel shared her own story of the catalyst that helped her discover what it meant to become more authentic for herself and how she is on a mission to help more women do the same.

I discussed the connection with perimenopause and menopause and how as midlife women we become less connected with ourselves and this is the time to now really ask for help and support, we are not meant to do things on our own.

We even shared an idea of us doing a retreat together in 2025 which is super exciting as our mission is so clear and so strong to support more women who need our help in being the best version of themselves.

🤔 When Does Perimenopause Happen?

* Menopause typically happens around 51-52 years old.
* Perimenopause (the lead-up to menopause) often starts in your 40s.
* It can last anywhere from 1 to 10 years (average: 4-6 years).
* If your periods are irregular and you’re noticing changes, you could be entering perimenopause.

🌸 What Happens During Perimenopause?

*Your ovaries start running low on eggs
* Hormone levels (especially oestrogen) fluctuate
* Your periods might become heavier or lighter, shorter or longer
* Irregular, some months you might skip a period

Every woman’s experience is unique!

Possible Physical symptoms:
🔥 Hot flushes & night sweats
💤 Sleep issues & tiredness
🤕 Headaches
🤲 Achy joints or muscles
🌵 Vaginal dryness
😣 Sore breasts

Emotional symptoms:
😡 Mood swings
🤯 Brain fog & forgetfulness
😰 Anxiety or depression

Embrace the transformation, because life is just getting started!

When I first started having symptoms I was like, seriously this is going to be messed up! However, the more I learned about what was happening to my body it was actually really freeing for me!

One day I even decided that I am no longer going to colour my hair and let my greys come through, and I am loving this part of me that is really now embracing what life has to offer.

Yes there are some days I'm like.... C'mon are you kidding me... but most days I am embracing really getting to know my body and myself.

I no longer put up with crap, I speak my truth and I have really leaned into my fifty plus life and it's exciting knowing that I am in control of my life and my destiny.

The doctors can support me with helping my body but ultimately it's up to me to be my own advocate for my health.

Perimenopause is different for everyone and today when I right this, I really haven't experienced the so called hot flashes or hot flushes, depending where you live in the world, so I count myself lucky!

The whole process of transitioning from perimenopause to menopause is fascinating if you ask me, it's like a guessing game who the heck I am going to turn up as tomorrow!!!!! Not to mention when really is the last time I will be buying tampons!

What has been really confronting for me is the emotions that I feel like I have no control over and each day is so different and that has made it hard for the people around me, but.... I never make it as an excuse to not own my s**t, if I am being just horrible and rude.

I took charge and became my strongest advocate for my health and wellbeing. no one else can take the journey for us – it’s up to each of us to step up, prioritise, and fight for our health. 💖 including perimenopause!

When we decide to put ourselves first, amazing things happen. let today be the day you start advocating for you! 💕

You might be frustrated right now and that's ok however I know it can be different, you can be different and change really is possible.

Don't be scared what might be on the other side that you can't see, get excited that if you let the fear go and open yourself to healing, learning, growing and understanding yourself and your body that life really can be remarkable.
