"The wound is the place where the Light enters you." β€” Rumi ✨️

Thank you all for your patience, compassion, and understanding while I’ve been healing.πŸ™πŸ«ΆπŸ™

Today marks week 5 of recovery from my rib fractures. I continue to be in awe of the body’s innate wisdom and power to heal. 🌿 Though I’m still under gentle doctor’s orders to rest for 2 more weeks, please know β€” I’m thinking of you all deeply.

I’m truly looking forward to returning to our sacred space together on Tuesday, June 17. Until then, may you keep listening inward, breathing gently, moving mindfully and trusting the rhythm of your own healing path.

With love... always,
Vicky

Hello Yogi's,

My girls have their Christmas concert on Thursday night, so class will be cancelled. You are welcome to attend tomorrow night's class instead if you wish.

Little steps towards great change!
πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£ πŸ‘£

Last night in practice, we looked at taking teeny tiny steps towards something we would like to change or add to our habits.

Often, we set big goals that seem seem impossible or frightful to achieve.

We used asana (yogic postures) to view goals from a different perspective, invited divine wisdom to bring forth ideas, and used pranayama (breath techniques) to both energise (Simhamsa, Bastrika) and calm (Ujjayi, Kumbhaka) the mind.

Through using visualisation along with embodying postures, we see ourselves successfully achieving the first step.

Essentially, this is taking the first step towards change.

Some examples of tiny steps for big results could be:

Cutting down on sugar:
Instead of having two spoons of sugar in your coffee or tea, have one and a half, gradually weaning yourself off sugar completely. A tried and tested method.πŸ˜‰

Affirmations:
Each time you have a sip of water, couple it with a positive word. Tried and tested for over four years!

Pelvic floor Strengthening:
When climbing stairs, lift the pelvic floor step by step. Alternatively, pulse.

Balance:
Brush teeth while standing on one leg.

Walking more:
When doing groceries, only view one side of the aisle and do two laps.

Reducing alcohol intake:
Add a splash of soda water to each glass.

Less time on phone:
Put the phone down just five minutes before bed. Listen to a guided meditation or reflect on your day backwards.

Keeping up with chores:
Every time you see something that would take less than five minutes, just do it. Or every time you boil the kettle, quickly wipe a bench, put away half of the dishes or fold ten articles of clothing.

Mindfulness practices:
Spend five minutes a day studying one plant, one hand or other part of the body, any random object. Find yourself in awe at how it came to be, what it can be used for, how it feels, looks and operates. Allow that object to completely absorb your mind. Ponder deeply.

$15 therapautic yoga classes 7pm Tuesday and Thursday Evenings at St Mathews Church Hall, Mitchelton.

Want to try a few?
Mindful on Monday (deeply absorbed into an object)
Tiny and tight on Tuesday (half a spoon less sugar, pelvic floor stair climbing)
Watering on Wednesday (affirmations with each sip)
Thirsty on Thursday (splash of soda in wine)
Functional on Fridays (5 min chores)
Shopping on Satursday (double lap)
Silent on Sunday (phone down early and meditate)

If you have any other ideas, feel free to share and inspire!

In Bali I had an "Aha" moment whilst speaking to a palm reader about communication.

I know vocabulary only makes up 20% of communication (if that much), and know gestures, expressions, listening and so on the other 80%.

However, this reader mentioned that even watering plants, the way look at a tree or the thoughts we have about ourselves or others are communication.

This may seem obvious to most. However, I had not considered it when judging my false belief about my own communication. At times, my mind brings up the thought that what I feel in my heart does not express as lovingly through my words. Or that the sentences constructed by my thoughts don't deliver as intelligently as when internally pondered.

We are in constant communication, interaction and connection in all that we do.

To me the phrase "communication is key" has suddenly expanded into greater depths. It has helped me not focus on the words that are formed by my vocals, but in the way I exist in this world.

So, water your plants with a smile and feeling of love in your heart. Bring focus to your subtle movements, expressions and being. And ask yourself "what am I communicating without words?".

This week in class we shall ponder this together whilst in gentle communication with our bodies and each other.

Do join us!
