Executive function isn’t just for adults, it starts in early childhood 🧠✨

These powerful cognitive skills help kids plan, think before they act, remember steps, and stay focused.

And guess what? One of the best ways to strengthen executive function is through movement.

From “Simon Says” to treasure hunts, we use brain-based play to support planning, memory, and self-control.

💛 At Kids Heart Pilates, we help kids think better by moving better.

Let’s be real: planning means nothing if you don’t have the energy to execute it.

That’s why Energy Management is a non-negotiable part of my quarterly planning process.

Every quarter, I pause to ask:
🩷 What energised me last quarter?
🩷 What drained me?
🩷 How can I design my weeks to actually reflect how I want to feel?

Before I plan the work I schedule the life.

That means locking in:
✔️ Time with my kids
✔️ Self-care and movement
✔️ Family connection
✔️ White space and rest

Then (and only then) do I layer in the rest of my calendar and quarterly goals.

It’s a rhythm that helps me move into each quarter clear, calm, and ready not reactive.

Soon I will be planning out my LIVE courses for 2026!

I have only just started doing these live, this year I have done 5 Early Learning courses and workshops and 2 Allied Health ones and I have LOVED it! 🩷✨️

So looks like it will be happening next year!

Comment your city below and I will start to map out my travels!

My husband made a comment a little while ago that stopped me in my tracks… and it hasn’t left me since.

He said something along the lines of:
“The Director or CEO should be the least busy person in the business.”

At first, I laughed. But then I started watching. Really watching.
And I realised… he was right.

The best leaders I know? They’re not the most scheduled or frantic.

They have white space in their days so they can think clearly, support their people, and respond when it really matters.

They’re not drowning in tasks… they’re holding the vision.

It hit me especially hard this past year, as our business has grown and I’ve stepped further out of the day-to-day.

I’ve delegated more.
I’ve brought in partners.
I’ve trusted others to lead and it’s changed everything.

Because you can’t lead well when you’re stuck in every meeting, every decision, every little fire that pops up.

Leadership takes space.
It takes boundaries.
And it takes trust in your people, and in yourself.

I’ve seen it firsthand: when you give others real responsibility, they rise.
They grow.
And your whole business moves forward.

It’s a win-win… especially when you’ve got the right people on the bus.

And if you want a gut-check on whether it’s working?

Check your energy at the end of the day.
That’ll tell you everything.

In case you missed this week’s episode:

We’re breaking down executive function into skills you can actually target in therapy:

✔️ Working memory
✔️ Cognitive flexibility
✔️ Impulse control
✔️ Goal-oriented behaviour

✨ From language goals to fluency and articulation, we’re sharing how these skills underpin so many areas of development and how to weave them into your sessions with purpose. 🧠🎯

Every 90 days, I take myself away for 1–2 nights to pause, reset, and reflect and honestly, it’s one of the most powerful things I do.❤️

Day 1 of my Quarterly Planning Retreat is all about reflection:

✅ What worked last quarter and what didn’t?
✅ What made me proud?
✅ What needs to shift?
✅ What are my wins (even the quiet ones)?
✅ Am I on track with the life I actually want to build?

I reflect across all areas: wellbeing, finances, family, career, spirituality, self-care... then I take myself out for dinner to celebrate.

It’s amazing how much we’ve already achieved, we just need space to see it.

This research says it all: structured and playful movement in real-life settings isn’t just “good for kids”, it literally improves their brain function.

Focus, memory, planning, and regulation all benefit from as little as 30 minutes of active play.

Want to boost executive function in a fun, evidence-informed way? We’ve got you.

What if movement wasn’t just a “brain break”…. but the key to understanding what a child really needs?

That’s why I created my educator course MoveMentor.

Not just to run sessions for children in centres but to empower educators that are working with them all day everyday.

Because sometimes what looks like “behaviour” is really…
🩷 A cognitive processing challenge
🩷 A sensory need
🩷 A core strength issue
🩷 A regulation struggle

And with the right lens, educators can spot it early.

MoveMentor blends theory, mentoring, and real-time, in-centre support to help educators:
✔️ Understand the why behind movement challenges
✔️ Use physical literacy as a tool for learning
✔️ Build confidence to run their own movement-rich sessions

Because the magic doesn’t just happen in the 30-minute Pilates class.
It happens when educators feel confident to weave movement into everyday routines.

I noticed last year that I was coming home from work exhausted, I was tired by the weekends and I had very little left. I was giving all my energy to the work and not saving enough for my family.

I started to plan to get to holidays energised, then the weekend and now the end of each day.

I want to have energy for my kids. I want to have energy for my husband.

Sometimes it feels like we get it out of whack.

There is no reason we can't do well at work and not have energy reserves. We just need to align ourselves, we need boundaries and we need to be surrounded by the right people.

Once you become clear on how you want to feel, the decisions become clearer, the no's are a non negotiable and and the yes's are bigger and better.

Right here, is feeling pretty darn good.
