This study was conducted to determine whether prophylactic use of compression sleeves prevents arm swelling in women who had undergone axillary lymph node dissection for breast cancer surgery, and showed that prophylactic use of compression sleeves compared with the control group reduced and delayed the occurrence of arm swelling in women at high risk for lymphedema in the first year after surgery for breast cancer.

Lipedema and lymphedema are often confused—but they’re distinct conditions that deserve proper recognition and care.

🔹 Lipedema is a chronic fat disorder—often symmetrical, painful, and resistant to diet or exercise.
🔹 Lymphedema is a lymphatic drainage issue that leads to swelling, usually starting in one limb.
