Royal Flying Doctor Service - Queensland Section The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) has been saving lives in regional, rural and remote communities for 96 years.

In addition to aeromedical retrievals, the RFDS also delivers essential primary and preventative healthcare services. Established in Queensland in 1928 by the Reverend John Flynn, the RFDS has grown to become the world’s largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisation. Today the RFDS delivers more than 370,000 episodes of patient care across Australia every year – equivalent to assisting someone every two minutes. In Queensland, the RFDS provides healthcare services over an area of 1.73 million square kilometres from nine strategically located bases in Cairns, Townsville, Mount Isa, Charleville, Longreach, Roma, Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Brisbane. These services are delivered via a fleet of 20 medically equipped aeromedical aircraft. And with some of the world’s most highly trained and skilled aviation and medical staff, the RFDS is incredibly well positioned to uphold our promise to deliver the finest care to the furthest corner of the state.

It's time to celebrate! 🥳 This month marks the one-year anniversary of our Aeromedical Training Academy in Bundaberg! Read more: https://ow.ly/ehni50X2ycR

The Academy is the only facility in the southern hemisphere to offer a Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) to pilots - meaning pilots no longer have to travel overseas for their training. 🧑‍✈️🗺️

Since its launch, 46 RFDS pilots have completed 377 training sessions in the simulator and training rooms. 👏

A huge thanks to the Australian Government and QCoal Foundation whose support made this project a reality. 🙏 Thanks also to Bundaberg Regional Council for generously donating the land.

One year in and we are already making📍Bundaberg a destination for aeromedical and aviation excellence! 🎖️

The 2025 Birdsville Races raised over $46,000 for the Flying Doctor! 🙌✈️💙

Australia's award-winning drama series, RFDS, will premiere on Channel 7 and 7plus on 1 October at 7:30pm. 👏

The series showcases the doctors, nurses, pilots and support crew of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and their mission to help people in some of the most remote locations of our country.

With the promo teasing fans with a devastating bus crash with cast favourites on a desert highway, this season is set to be the most gripping yet!

We’re proud to celebrate the longstanding partnership between Brisbane Airport and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) this school holidays at the Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal! ✈️
