Royal Flying Doctor Service - Queensland Section

Royal Flying Doctor Service - Queensland Section The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) has been saving lives in regional, rural and remote communities for 96 years.

In addition to aeromedical retrievals, the RFDS also delivers essential primary and preventative healthcare services. Established in Queensland in 1928 by the Reverend John Flynn, the RFDS has grown to become the worldโ€™s largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisation. Today the RFDS delivers more than 370,000 episodes of patient care across Australia every year โ€“ equivalent to assisting s

omeone every two minutes. In Queensland, the RFDS provides healthcare services over an area of 1.73 million square kilometres from nine strategically located bases in Cairns, Townsville, Mount Isa, Charleville, Longreach, Roma, Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Brisbane. These services are delivered via a fleet of 20 medically equipped aeromedical aircraft. And with some of the worldโ€™s most highly trained and skilled aviation and medical staff, the RFDS is incredibly well positioned to uphold our promise to deliver the finest care to the furthest corner of the state.

Shout out to Mates on Mountain Bikes who pedalled a gruelling 650km from Townsville to Port Douglas to raise vital funds for the Flying Doctor last weekend! ๐Ÿšต

From bitumen to challenging off-road trails - they marked their eighth ride and celebrated raising almost $180,000 since 2012.

Thanks for all of your support over the years! ๐Ÿ™

Craig was 1000km from care when he had a massive heart attack in the middle of the outback.

In a fight to save his life, a team of six performed CPR on him, while our Mount Isa crew flew to a nearby airstrip to stabilise and transfer him to hospital. โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿฉบ

Mid-flight, Craig's blood pressure and heart rate dropped, and he was on the verge of having another cardiac arrest. Luckily the crew were able to administer adrenaline to keep him stable.

With all odds against Craig, the first aid he received and the response from our Mount Isa crew kept him with us. ๐Ÿ’™

Please donate today to help equip our aeromedical crews with the cardiac equipment needed to save lives. ๐Ÿ™ Donate here: https://ow.ly/oJ6K50WNjw4

Last night, we celebrated 30 years of collaboration with the Queensland Government, which has continued to expand and strengthen since our first hospital transfer in 1995.

Since then, we have worked together to grow our service delivery and support regional, rural and remote communities.

Thank you to everyone for attending the event, including the Premier of Queensland, the Honourable David Crisafulli MP.

We look forward to the future where we aim to create a healthier and more connected Queensland.

Happy International Dog Day to Hector and Lulu! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿถ

Meet our two four-legged friends who make a pawsitive impact every day.

๐Ÿฆฎ Hector โ€“ a superstar guide dog who supports Louise, one of our mental health clinicians in the headspace Cairns National Early Careers Program.

๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ Lulu โ€“ our therapy dog who brings smiles and comfort to RFDS crews, schools, hospitals, and kindergartens across Mount Isa.

These two furry legends are a reminder of the impact dogs have in our lives and the important roles they play in delivering healthcare. ๐Ÿ’™

More than 30 aircraft will soar across the outback in Outback Air Race this month to raise vital funds for the RFDS! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โœˆ๏ธโœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Among them are our RFDS Ambassadors Ian and Jane Campbell who are flying from Yulara to Carnarvon in their 50-year-old Cessna to raise $30,000 for the Flying Doctor. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Since the flying challenge was launched in 1996, the race has raised more than $4 million for the RFDS. ๐Ÿคฏ

We are so grateful to all of the pilots, teams, sponsors and communities who are taking part in this event. ๐Ÿ™Your passion for aviation and commitment to the Service keep us flying - good luck!

GUESS WHO just became an RFDS Ambassador! ๐Ÿคฉ Read more: https://ow.ly/ZxhP50WIGwg

We're excited to share that media personality Ben Dobbin has joined our RFDS Ambassador Program - Lighting the Way.

Ben is a well-known voice on Triple M Brisbane 104.5's Rush Hour and Rural Queensland Today and became a huge RFDS supporter when the Flying Doctor saved his life, twice, back in 2006.

Now, he's keen to help us shine a light on the importance of healthcare in regional, rural and remote Queensland with his first gig as a judge in the Outback Explorer Competition - a joint initiative with the RFDS and Elders.

Welcome to the RFDS family Ben! We know your story and passion will be an inspiration to many!
