PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome) is one of the most common hormonal conditions affecting women, yet it’s so often misunderstood.

Despite the name, you don’t need ovarian cysts to have it.

We are creating elegant everyday household items from reclaimed stone here on the Northside of Brisbane. We wanted to focus on reducing waste and reusing stone and other materials that would otherwise be discarded.

Have you ever noticed that you might feel jittery or a bit emotionally unstable after a high carbohydrate or sugar filled meal?

That’s because our nervous system relies on the amino acids in protein to function at its best, and our brain needs protein to create important chemicals like neurotransmitters.

Plus, our blood sugar levels play a big role in how we handle our emotions and mood, and protein helps keep those levels steady.

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in a “freeze” mode or caught in fight-or-flight, try starting your day with a protein-packed breakfast.

With a little consistency, you may notice that you’re handling situations in a calmer, more balanced way.

This is especially important for kids and their mental health—starting these habits early can make a big difference. I can see firsthand how my son reacts to a protein rich meal in comparison to something that might be higher in carbohydrates than protein.

While sugary cereals and breakfast foods might be marketed to us, they don’t really meet our natural needs. You’ll likely notice your body feeling more calm without those sugar spikes, and your mind might feel clearer and more focused when you stick to whole, nutrient-rich foods.

With this shift, you may find it easier to manage your emotions in a more grounded way.

5 things I’m doing this festive season 🎄 as a Clinical Nutritionist, Mother and human being.

In my opinion, there’s no right or wrong way to approach this time of year, with food and your goals. Being consistent and prepared may be your style, while others might spend this time of year “letting their hair down” and not even worrying about food.

This time of year may bring up different emotions for you, and I just want you to know that it is okay to not be completely okay. Lean on your loved ones and be kind to yourself 🤍
