⚠️⚠️Trigger Warning: Infant Loss, Trauma, Media Harassment
This podcast contains a discussion about the death of newborn twins. Please take care when listening.⚠️⚠️

There are moments when something speaks so deeply to your heart that you feel an overwhelming need to share it. This is one of those moments for me. After listening to this courageous mother’s story—of losing her twin boys and then facing public scrutiny at a time of unbearable grief—I felt compelled to share it. Why? I don’t fully know. Perhaps there’s someone out there who needs to hear it, or maybe it’s simply to honour and support this incredible mother. Either way, my instincts have guided me here.

Her strength in the face of unimaginable tragedy and injustice is awe-inspiring. By sharing her story, I hope to raise awareness of the need for compassion, respect, and support for grieving families.

To the mother in this story—your courage, resilience, and advocacy will not be forgotten. You are seen, heard, and deeply respected. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your journey.

This is an incredibly tough listen or watch and is not something I share lightly. As I mentioned above, there is something truly guiding me to share this podcast through this platform. If anyone needs to debrief or discuss following listening to this story please do not hesitate to inbox me.

🌻Welcoming 2025 with Gratitude and Excitement 🌻

As the new year begins, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journeys I’ve had the privilege of witnessing this past year. Supporting families as a doula has been an honour, and I’m so grateful for the trust and connection we’ve built together.

2025 brings an exciting new chapter for me personally and professionally. This year, I’ll be embarking on my postgraduate studies in midwifery—a dream I’ve been working towards for sooo long. I’m eager to deepen my knowledge, gain new insights, and bring these skills into my future work to further empower and support the families I serve. Another tool I'm putting in my belt to help us beat the stigma around natural birth 💪

That said, I want to assure all my clients and followers that I am still offering my full range of doula services for the foreseeable future. Supporting families during pregnancy, birth, and beyond remains my passion, and I look forward to continuing to walk this journey with you.

To my clients, followers, and friends: thank you for being part of this journey. Your stories inspire me, and your strength motivates me every day. Here’s to another year of learning, growth, and supporting each other through life’s most precious moments.

Wishing you all a year filled with love, connection, and new beginnings.

With love,
Breanna 💕

Just another tough day at the office… Somebody’s got to do it! 😴😍

One of my many roles as a doula and night nanny is helping parents navigate the ups and downs of parenting. Whether it’s giving them a chance to enjoy a peaceful dinner out, surviving the witching hour, or helping a newborn settle into a sleep routine, I’m here to support them every step of the way. Lack of sleep and adjusting to life with a new baby is hard, but you don’t have to do it alone!

"🛑Stop telling women they can’t birth big babies out of their va**na!

Over the years I have had many clients successfully birth their ‘big’ babies and I even have a beautiful birth video that I show in my Hypnobirthing classes of a mama who births a 4.5kg baby all natural with no intervention or complications.

We can birth big babies we just need to be supported and shown positions that help to make space for our babies.. this is exactly what I teach in my classes - movement and positioning to make space. It’s important to understand that induction of labour for a suspected big baby can also cause more potential complications especially if mum’s do end up with an epidural and pushing flat on their backs which has been shown to decrease the size of our pelvis by nearly 20%

Ever wondered if breast size affects milk supply? Let's set the record straight with some facts! 📚

👉 Breast size ≠ Milk Supply: Contrary to popular belief, the size of your breasts doesn't determine how much milk you can produce. Whether you're an A cup or a D cup, your body is capable of producing enough milk to nourish your baby.

👉 It's All About the Milk-Making Tissues: Milk production is primarily determined by the number of milk-producing glands (alveoli) in your breasts, not their size. These glands exist in all breast sizes and can increase in number during pregnancy and breastfeeding to meet your baby's needs.

👉 Supply & Demand Rule: The key to maintaining a healthy milk supply is frequent and effective breastfeeding or expressing milk. The more your baby feeds or you empty your breasts, the more signals your body receives to produce milk.

👉 Breastfeeding Success Isn't Measured by Size: Remember, successful breastfeeding is not about breast size but about ensuring your baby gets the nourishment they need. Support, proper latch, and feeding on demand play a more significant role in breastfeeding success than breast size ever could.

🌟 Myth Busting Alert! 🌟

Ever heard that breastfeeding prevents pregnancy? 🤔 Let's debunk this common misconception! While it's true that breastfeeding can delay ovulation for some women, it's NOT a foolproof method of contraception. 🚫👶

👩‍🔬 According to recent studies, while breastfeeding can suppress ovulation temporarily, it's not reliable as the sole method of birth control nor is the return of a woman's menstrual cycle. Understanding your body's fertility signals and using additional contraceptive methods are crucial for preventing unplanned pregnancies. Please feel free to inbox me if you have any questions or would like some more information about effective contraceptive methods both pharmaceutical and natural.

Bringing a new life into the world is filled with countless firsts, one of the most heartwarming being the first breastfeed. It's a moment of connection, bonding, and the beginning of a beautiful journey together. However, it's important to remember that, like any first step, the first breastfeed might not always go as smoothly as anticipated—and that's perfectly normal.

Research shows that breastfeeding is a learned skill, not just for new moms but for babies too! According to a study published in the Pediatrics journal, it's common for newborns to need a bit of time to learn how to latch on and feed effectively. This learning curve is natural, as babies need to coordinate sucking, swallowing, and breathing, which can take some practice.

The World Health Organization emphasizes the importance of patience and support during this time. They suggest that skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth can significantly help with the baby's instinct to breastfeed but also stress that it's okay if it takes a few tries to get it right.

Remember, every baby's journey to successful breastfeeding is unique. Some might latch on immediately, while others may need several attempts across the first few days. It's not a reflection of your ability to care or provide for your baby but simply a part of the learning process for both of you.

So, to all the new parents out there, give yourself and your little one grace and time.
Support is key, whether it's from healthcare providers, lactation consultants, or your support network. You're not alone in this journey.

Let's normalize the learning curve of the first breastfeed. It's not just about nourishment but about building a bond that lasts a lifetime. 💕

A 2017 systematic review has brought new insights into the weight changes of full-term, breastfed newborns, challenging the long-standing belief that babies should regain their birth weight by days 14-18.
📚🔍The study reveals a more detailed understanding of newborn weight dynamics. While it's common for babies to lose up to 10% of their birth weight initially, the journey back to their birth weight can vary significantly. 📉📈

This finding is crucial for parents and healthcare professionals, as it suggests that the current recommendation of weight gain by day 14 may not apply to every baby. It's a reminder that each little one is unique and may follow their own healthy growth trajectory.

Current neonatal birth weight charts in Australia, along with the associated policies and procedures, may be relying on outdated data. This lack of up-to-date, individualized information could inadvertently place undue pressure on new mothers. They might feel compelled to start bottle-feeding, under misconceptions such as not producing enough breast milk for their baby, even when this may not be the case. This situation highlights the need for a more tailored approach to neonatal and maternal care and more support to help mother achieve successful breastfeeding.

🌈Remember, losing weight initially is not necessarily a sign of insufficient milk or baby feeding problems. Sometimes our babies just need a bit more support to establish breastfeeding properly 🍼💕

Be kind to yourselves 💕

Research shows that breastfeeding, like all other skills our newborns have to develop, is a learnt behaviour. It does not happen automatically for all babies.
