What a celebration! We haven’t stopped smiling watching this year’s Aveo Awards video, it was such a joy to relive the action and now we’re thrilled to share it with you! We loved hearing from Tony, Justine, Ryan, and Josh, and some of our incredible winners about what the Aveo Awards is all about and what this recognition means to them. Such a wonderful reminder of how important it is to celebrate the outstanding contributions of our team. A huge thank you to our special guest MC, Daniel Gannon!

𝗔 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸! 🎀

There was an incredible (and colourful) energy at the official reopening of the Edrington Park Community Centre, a celebration that brought together residents, team members, and guests, all for a great cause! Not only did Edrington celebrate the beautifully revitalised community space, but they also raised $𝟭,𝟱𝟬𝟬 for Project Pink, supporting breast cancer research and awareness. 💗

As part of the event, the Aveo team shared that they are incredibly grateful to residents for their patience and input throughout the revitalisation project and that their ideas helped shape a space that truly feels like home. A huge thank you to the amazing team who made this event possible and here’s to many more memories made in this vibrant, welcoming space. 💐

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲: 𝗔 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 🎉

When George Reid turned 100 this year, the Hunters Green community made sure the milestone was one to remember, complete with a queue of well-wishers, plenty of handshakes, and a special video message from his beloved Sydney Swans players!

When asked about the celebrations, George said, “I suppose the best part was seeing everyone line up for a photo and to shake my hand. And the Swans winning, of course. I’ve got so many jerseys now, I could run on the ground myself!”

George could fill a book with his tales, from teaching a very shy, young John Farnham (“He hardly spoke; I didn’t even know he could sing!”) to a lifetime spent shaping young minds across Victoria. And in a twist that could only happen in a close-knit community like Hunters Green, George recently discovered that one of his former students, Brian, now lives just around the corner.

“It’s quite unique that I could find Brian here after 80 years,” George said. The pair have enjoyed catching up and sharing memories of those early school days. Brian even recalled that George ended up teaching his whole family, all seven siblings!

A teacher, a storyteller, a Sydney Swans super fan, and now a reunited neighbour, George is proof that community connections can truly last a lifetime.

Happy 100th, George! What a life, and what a legend. 💫

What a day to sizzle and celebrate at Bayview Gardens on Sydney’s Northern Beaches! The sun was shining, the grill was blazing, and residents brought the fiesta vibes in their most colourful outfits for a vibrant village BBQ.

The Brazilian BBQ was on fire - literally and deliciously! From juicy slow-cooked meats to mouthwatering sides, there were plenty of reasons to meat and greet (and repeat!). Everyone left stuffed, smiling and in a blissful food coma, but totally worth it!

A big shoutout to Brazilian Barbecue Catering, turning up the heat and serving a flavour-packed fiesta that had everyone grilling for more! 🔥🍴

𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

After losing her husband, Jackie found some everyday tasks overwhelming, especially with ongoing back pain. That’s when she met Joanne from Aveo’s care at home team.

“I spoke to Joanne and she was fantastic,” Jackie said. “It was such a relief to have someone available at Sunset Palms that I was so comfortable talking to when I started needing extra help.”

With Joanne’s help, cleaners now visit regularly, and a physiotherapist provides in-home care, a simple support network that’s made everyday life easier and more enjoyable for Jackie.

“The support has made such a difference as I no longer feel exhausted by lunch time and my back isn't so sore. I've gradually been able to return to doing the things I love, such as gardening and going for walks.”

Jackie’s story reflects what Aveo's Ageing Australia Study found many retirees value most - independence, connection and peace of mind.

“The Ageing Australia Study revealed that 75% of retirees surveyed are seeking security as a top priority when choosing a retirement community,” said Aveo CEO Tony Randello. “This highlights that retirees value their independence but also want the reassurance of support when they need it.”

𝗘𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁

There’s a wonderful buzz at Fountain Court in Burwood, where the incredible refurbishment of community spaces continues to bring renewed energy to this much-loved community. Fountain Court was also recently awarded Aveo's Community Revitalisation of the Year award!

For resident Maria Gorondi, the transformation feels especially meaningful. Her mother once called Fountain Court home, and after exploring other options, Maria found herself drawn back.

“While my mother was very happy at Fountain Court and thrived in the supportive community when it came time for me to downsize, I visited many other retirement villages but none ticked all the boxes. Most were too large and didn’t have that sense of a community I wanted. When I decided to revisit Fountain Court, I realised why my mother treasured it.”

Now, a year after moving in, Maria says she couldn’t be happier enjoying the gardens, the close-knit atmosphere and, of course, the café. “I’m also considered the best customer at the café because I do enjoy my coffee and a piece of cake!"

Community Manager, Carolyn West says the transformation was inspired by the evolving health and wellness needs of modern retirees. “Aveo has created spaces tailored for residents to enjoy a superior quality of life, flourish in lively social communities and feel a genuine sense of belonging as they pursue their passions and interests in retirement.”

The evening was filled with heartfelt moments, laughter and pride, and a true reflection of the spirit that makes Aveo such a great place to live and work.

✨ 40 years of Forest Grove ✨

Forest Grove in Durack has marked its incredible 40th anniversary in style with spectacular celebrations that truly reflect the heart of the community.

Across three special events, the Residents Club, the Forest Grove team and resident community poured their creativity, teamwork and energy into honouring the village’s history. From a resident-written history book launch, to a sparkling soirée with gold-waistcoated resident waiters and music, and finally a black-tie gala and art exhibition featuring more than 100 resident works - every detail was a showcase of talent, passion and connection.

For many, these celebrations captured what life at Forest Grove is all about. As long-time resident Teresa Hauff explained, “Being part of a community means getting involved and getting you out and about, it’s a reason to get up in the morning.”

A huge congratulations to the Residents Club, whose passion and teamwork, with support from the Forest Grove team, brought these celebrations to life. Together with the wider community, they’ve shown what’s possible when creativity, purpose and friendship thrive in retirement.

Storytime, giggles and just the right amount of chaos!

Mountain View Retirement Village in Northern NSW came alive with energy when the kinder kids from Dungay Public School stopped by for a visit. Everyone settled in to read some stories together, before the morning unfolded into curious questions, games that had everyone joining in, and plenty of giggles!

There were little hands waving, big imaginations at play, and smiles that seemed to multiply by the minute. It’s safe to say no one left without a full heart (and maybe a new favourite game or two!).

A big thank you to Dungay Public School and the Mountain View team for organising such a joyful morning - we can’t wait to see these little stars back again soon! ✨

We’re proud to see Lyn Collins’ story featured on News.com.au, realestate.com.au and in The Australian last month, highlighting affordability living options in retirement communities. Lyn purchased a one-bedroom villa at Beachside Gardens in Safety Beach for just $200,000 – around 75% below the suburb’s median unit price.

After decades of renting, Lyn used her superannuation to buy into the vibrant community of Beachside Gardens, gaining not just financial security, but peace of mind, friendship, and her own home.

“Until earlier this year, I hadn’t realised the options available to me. I certainly would never have imagined it would be possible for me to own a home at Safety Beach. My one-bedder villa is lovely and large enough for me, and my grandchildren come and visit regularly. I can walk down to the beach, and there are always activities going on, happy hours, dinners, friendly neighbours. Most importantly, I’ve made wonderful friends, and I’ll never have to worry about housing insecurity again,” Lyn said.

🍷 Living La Dolce Vita at Botanic Gardens 🍷

This month, An Afternoon in Italy was truly molto bene at Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne! Guests indulged in Italian-themed canapés, sipped refreshing drinks, and enjoyed live music that brought a touch of Mediterranean magic to the afternoon.

Tours of the beautifully renovated units and community centre were the amore of the event, giving everyone a taste of the vibrant lifestyle on offer.

From start to finito, it was a bellissimo day of connection, laughter, and community. Bravissimo to the Botanic Gardens team for orchestrating such a wonderful event, truly a day worth a standing ovazione!👏
